About Us

Pediatricians in Ottawa are highly skilled individuals that help in delivering your baby as well as immunizations, vaccinations and other detailed ailments and stuff.

From birth to age 2, your child will visit the paediatrician frequently, and then once a year from age 2 to age 5 for “well-child visits.” After the age of five, your child’s paediatrician will probably visit them every year for checkups.

When your child is ill, you should always contact your paediatrician first. A paediatrician will: in their treatment of your child

  • Perform physical exams.

  • Give the advised vaccinations.

  • Make sure your child is achieving growth, behavioural, and skill milestones.

  • Find the causes of your child’s ailments, infections, wounds, and other health issues, and treat them.

  • enlighten you on the requirements for your child’s safety, nutrition, and physical fitness.

  • Answer your inquiries regarding the maturation and development of your child.

  • Should your kid become unwell and require care that is outside the scope of the pediatrician’s training, consult and work with a specialist.

Our Practices

At Ottawa Medical Clinic, our paediatricians are licenced by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. They provide basic primary care as well as consultations and are knowledgeable in various paediatric specialities. To give their patients the finest and most complete care possible, they collaborate and communicate with various health care providers (medical experts, audiologists, physiotherapists, therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, schools, CHEO, and OCTC).

Richelle d’Entremont, a licenced occupational therapist, Paige Holmes, a trained speech-language pathologist, and Sarah Fitzpatrick provide assistance to the doctors at Ottawa Medical Clinic.

Family Practice

The highest standard of care for patients of all ages is our goal as a team of family doctors. In addition to diagnosing and treating the majority of medical illnesses, they also offer immunizations, health education, sick visits, chronic disease management, preventative care, and disease screening. Currently, our family practice doctors can be reached by phone for both in-person and virtual appointments. None of our family doctors is currently accepting new patients, however, they do provide walk-in services on particular days each week.

Walk-in Services

Our walk-in service offers to individuals who can’t get to their family doctor or don’t currently have high-quality daytime and evening care. For those who need it, walk-in services offer rapid and efficient care on a first come, first served basis. For routine blood tests, urine dipsticks, and minor procedures, our clinic has a lab on site. In order to serve as a reliable healthcare partner and give you timely and accurate test results information, we have collaborated with Alpha Labs. The specimen is procured, sent to Alpha Labs for examination, and returned for review in our doctors’ charts. Patients will be contacted if a follow-up is required or desired after being reviewed by the on-call or family physician.

What Relationship Has Your Pediatrician With Your Delivery Team?

When you visit a hospital to give birth, most of them ask if you have a paediatrician. The paediatrician of your choice or one from the hospital may conduct your baby’s first checkup.

Whether or not your paediatrician conducts rounds at the hospital where you give birth, hospital policy, and whether or not your baby was born early will all determine this.

If your baby is born prematurely, they will likely be taken right away to the NICU, or neonatal critical care unit. Your baby will be looked for and their health will be closely monitored by highly qualified NICU nurses and physicians until they are old enough to go home.

The hospital records from your child’s stay will be given to your paediatrician. Your physician will see your child 48 to 72 hours after you leave the hospital, then on a regular basis thereafter for “well-child visits.”

Your doctor will work with other medical specialists to organise care if your child ever needs more specialised attention. They’ll aid in your comprehension of difficult information and decision-making as needed.

What Makes a Pediatrician Needful?

Your youngster might receive regular care from family doctors as well. A person’s preference may determine whether to see a paediatrician or a family physician. Here are some factors to take into account while choosing a paediatrician:

  • Pediatricians are trained specifically on the psychological, behavioural, and physical requirements of children.

  • Pediatricians only serve children, thus they frequently have more experience diagnosing and treating ailments in children.

  • A paediatrician may be able to provide more specialised treatment if your child was born prematurely or has a medical issue that requires close monitoring.

  • How Can a Pediatrician Be Selected?

  • Finding a paediatrician at the start of your third trimester is a smart move. To discover someone who makes both you and your partner feel comfortable, you should give yourself plenty of time. Consult your OB and dependable family and friends for suggestions. Make an appointment for a face-to-face interview if you can to see the doctor’s office in person and see how well you get along.
