For Fun: Finding free fitness classes outdoors, going to local farmer's markets
Fave Food Spots: Leven Deli Co and various food halls like Denver Central Market and Stanley Market
Why I Love it Here: Coming from the Midwest, I absolutely love the sunshine and seeing the mountains every day. The access to incredible hiking and biking within 1-2 hours from the Denver area has been such a great way to decompress on the weekends!
For Fun: Yoga, hiking, and spending time outdoors!
Fave Food Spots: White Pie Pizza and Ash Kara
Why I Love it Here: I love that Denver is such a family friendly city with tons of community activities and the mountains are right in our backyard!
For Fun: I'm a fan of most things that involve food, whether that be checking out a new restaurant or sampling a variety at a food festival. I love music and like to catch performances from my favorite artists whenever I get the chance. I'm also continuing my pandemic hobby of building my vinyl record collection. I enjoy sitting on my couch with a good binge just as much as getting out and exploring the surrounding areas. Having spent most of my life in the South, I never was able to do most snow activities, so I'm looking forward to taking advantage of having that easily accessible here in Denver.
Fave Food Spots: I haven't really scratched the surface of places to eat here, but a few favorite spots that I have discovered so far are Las Delicias, Steuben's, and Izzio Bakery.
Why I Love it Here: I found myself comparing every program during the interview season to CHCO. A couple of the biggest draws for me on deciding to train here were the ample opportunities that the department and hospital offer and the energy of the people I interacted with during my interview day. There's also so much to do inside the city and in the surrounding towns and states.
For Fun: I love traveling with my family, being outside, jogging, playing/watching tennis and finding new cocktail bars and restaurants.
Fave Food Spots: Me and my boyfriend are obsessed with a delicious and authentic Thai restaurant called US Thai. I also love all the great coffee shops in the Blue Bird District. Cerebral brewing is our favorite brewery so far!
Why I Love it Here: As cheesy as it sounds, the people make this program a very special place. Even during a chaotic move across the country and starting fellowship, I’ve felt very welcomed and supported. Being close to the mountains is an added plus of course!
For Fun: Saturday morning hikes, visiting parks & running after my daughter!
Fave Food Spots: Osteria Marco
Why I Love it Here: The attendings and co-fellows have been wonderful to work with! I also LOVE the weather and how much there is to do outside.
For Fun: Exploring the mountains & outdoors with my husband and babies.
Fave Food Spots: Hop Alley
Why I Love it Here: I love the people I met on my interview day. I would say that the friendly and collegial atmosphere in the department is one of the best things about training here. There's a wide scope of exciting and pioneering research being carried out here, and being able to learn from and work with leaders in the field is also pretty incredible!
