Bandura's Social Learning Theory
Overview and Premise of Theory: Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory (SLT) suggests that learning occurs within a social context through observation, imitation and modeling (Liu et al., 2024). Through this model, students achieve optimal education by engaging in observation and practicing self-directed learning, as cognitive, behavioral, and environmental factors interact to promote knowledge acquisition (Liu et al., 2024). In medical education, SLT has been particularly effective, enabling learners to observe expert demonstrations, engage in guided practice, and receive constructive feedback, thereby enhancing the procurement of clinical skills (De la Fuente et al., 2023).
