Thank you for using Pecker! This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Pecker iOS app. By using Pecker, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.
Pecker is designed to work without an account. You do not sign up, and you do not give us your name, email address, or any other identifying information to use the app.
We do not collect personal information about you, and we do not operate any user database or servers that store your content.
The trips, packing lists, items, reminders, notes, and photos you create in Pecker are stored on your device. If you use iCloud sync (see Section 2), a copy is also stored in your own private iCloud account.
We have no access to any of this content.
If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, Pecker can sync your trips, lists, reminders, photos, and app settings across your devices using Apple's CloudKit.
This data is stored in your personal iCloud private database. It belongs to your Apple Account, not to us — we cannot read, retrieve, or delete it. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Pecker works fully offline and without iCloud. If you are signed out or sync is unavailable, your data simply stays on your device.
Pecker offers two ways to add a photo to a trip:
Your own photos. When you choose a photo from your photo library, iOS asks for your permission and gives Pecker only the specific image you select. The image is cropped on your device and stored with your trip. It is never sent to us.
Suggested photos. Pecker can suggest stock photography for a trip. To do this, the app sends a short search term (for example, a destination name) to our photo service, which forwards it to Pexels and returns matching images. The request includes a random identifier generated on your device the first time the app runs. This identifier exists only to rate-limit abuse of the service — it is not linked to you, your Apple Account, or your trips, and it is discarded if you delete the app.
We do not send your trip names, list contents, notes, or personal photos to this service or to Pexels. As with any internet request, our photo service (hosted on Cloudflare) receives your device's IP address in order to deliver the response; we do not store it or associate it with you. Search terms are cached for a short period purely to reduce repeat lookups.
If you enable reminders, Pecker schedules notifications locally on your device using iOS. Reminder content stays on your device and is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
Pecker+ is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Payment is processed by Apple, and your entitlement is verified through Apple's StoreKit. We never see or receive your payment details, card information, or Apple Account credentials.
Pecker contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
We do not use Google Firebase Analytics, Meta/Facebook SDK, or any comparable service. We do not access the advertising identifier, we do not build user profiles, and we do not show ads. Because Pecker does not track you across apps or websites, you will not see an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
We do not sell or share any data, because we do not have any to sell or share.
Because your content lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, you remain in control of it:
Deleting a trip, list, or photo in the app removes it from your device and, on your next sync, from your iCloud data.
Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device. Data in your iCloud account can be removed in iOS Settings under your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
The random photo-search identifier is stored only on your device and is destroyed when you delete the app.
Data stored on your device is protected by iOS file protection and your device passcode. Data synced through iCloud is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Requests to our photo service are made over HTTPS.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but because Pecker holds no accounts and no central store of user content, there is no user database to breach.
Pecker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Since the app collects no personal data from any user, no such data is gathered. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated version made available at this address, with a revised "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
