]Welcome to Pebworth Chess and Crib Club!
The Masons Arms is now reopen, and Crib has returned to Thursdays at the pub, but we have decided to continue to support both games every Tuesday in Mary's Room at the Pebworth Village Hall.
The club will be open on the 5th and 12th May, and then will move to fortnightly, so will be closed on the 19th, and open on the 26th.
All are welcome, so if you’re a beginner, intermediate or been playing for years – come along for a game, to watch, teach, learn, natter, and have a lovely social night out. Evening starts at 18:45 and go on until about 21:00. Stay as long or as short as you like, and you don't have to turn up when it starts.
Entry £1 per adult for room hire,
Tea and coffee, plus occasionally biscuits or cake provided or bring your own refreshments.
Under 18s can play for free, but to cover the health and safety/ DBS checks - under 18’s or vulnerable adults must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Mary’s room is located at the back of the Village Hall, so please enter round the back, unless you want to join in with the Yoga Club round the front.
We have 6 full size chess sets, boards, and clocks for those who want to play, as well as various random sized sets from our personal collection for when we have more than ten players. We also have several crib boards and packs of cards to play crib, and are happy to teach newcomers.
We also have an online chess club for Pebworth on chess.com for those who want to play online on other days of the week when we don't have the club open. See https://www.chess.com/club/pebworth-chess-club for more info
We were very glad to obtain support from PAL Community Interest Company who helped with room hire during our first few months.
We would recommend visiting their website https://pal-fitness-education.org.uk/ if you would like help starting up community projects, especially ones that help improve your physical or mental fitness.
