The Pearl Harbor Betrayal
The Pearl Harbor Betrayal
Considerable evidence indicates that President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) and other senior officials knew that Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked and allowed the attack to occur in order to get America into World War II. FDR was willing to support and befriend the Soviet Union but was unwilling to befriend anti-communist Japan. Japan's crimes, though serious, were minor compared to the Soviet Union's horrific crimes; however, FDR imposed harsh sanctions on Japan and refused all Japanese peace offers, while he gave the Soviet Union massive amounts of weapons and supplies and financial aid. FDR's intrigue and deception do not diminish the heroic actions and sacrifices of our sailors and civilians at Pearl Harbor, nor do they mean that Japan had no choice but to attack Pearl Harbor.
