History

The peak tram service began in 1888, 134 years ago. At first, it is for replacing sedan chair and to be an effective transportation connecting the peak.

In these 134 years, the peak tram has been going through many changes, such as its energy changed from coal to electricity; the Peak Tram engine room were attacked by Japanese during the World War II.

In 2021, we stopped our service due to the upgrade project, and after one year, we glad to announce that the project was finally done, and our service has opened on 27/8/2022.

Now our tram has a greater capacity, the Peak station and Central station both become bigger, especially the latter, which was also redesigned, now you can see some exhibits related to peak tram history in the station.
