7:00PM The future of AI in Healthcare by Caroline Collins, MD, MBA.
Don’t miss Dr. Caroline Collins’ presentation on the future of AI in healthcare. She’ll explore how AI is transforming clinical practice—from streamlining documentation and enhancing radiology interpretation to advancing decision support at the highest levels. She’ll also share her cutting-edge research on the Tacit Object Modeler (TOM), a new approach to capturing expert intuition and integrating it into medical AI. Come discover how AI is reshaping the way medicine is practiced.

2:00PM Artificial Intelligence:
Hype, History, and How It Can Help (or Hurt) Us
Artificial Intelligence is everywhere — in our homes, our cars, even embedded in the conversations we have with chatbots and digital assistants. But how did we get here, and where is all this going? In this talk, I’ll share the real story of AI — from its roots in Cold War defense research to breakthroughs in machine learning, robotics, and human-AI teaming. We’ll look at how symbolic reasoning systems evolved into the deep learning and generative models that now drive much of the AI landscape, including systems my lab develops for autonomous vehicles, collaborative robots, and brain-machine interfaces. We’ll also explore the hard, unsolved problems — making AI understandable, keeping humans in control, and ensuring these technologies are used responsibly. Along the way, I’ll share real-world examples, both promising and concerning, and leave time for discussion tailored to what this group finds most interesting.
3:00PM Owl Presentation by Chattahoochee Nature Center
4:00PM AI as used in Space Exploration by Steve Bieger
Machines have always advanced our ability to discover new truths. Through the power of artificial intelligence, computing machines help us make space travel safer and more efficient as well as collect and process data from distant worlds to further our knowledge of how the universe works.
I will look back before AI, to examine how we built knowledge bases that now form the raw material for data mining and pattern recognition used by artificial intelligence. I will then focus in on the use of AI tools to manage space missions. I will also examine how data from modern telescopes is analyzed by AI to extract fine details regarding the life of stars and galaxies and formation of planets.
