Arc 2: Chapter 9

The next morning, Lin Yuan cheerfully told Lin Yue that he didn’t need to take make-up lessons anymore because Fu Cheng would teach him.

Lin Yue didn’t expect that the pig only had to hook its finger for his white cabbage of a younger brother to be willing jump into its mouth. What could he do? Who told the pig to be so charming ah!

“Fine. But you can only study with him, don’t think of doing messy things you know?” Lin Yue said seriously.

What things were messy things though?

Lin Yuan wondered silently but he answered honestly: “I know! Brother, don’t worry, Fu Cheng and I won’t do messy things. We need to learn.”

Lin Yue was haha-ing on the outside but he tsked in his heart. His family’s white cabbage promised quickly, but who knew what would happen later……

Thinking of his future, Lin Yue suddenly felt dejected.

His little brother even said “If he dies, I’ll die” this kind of feudal phrase, but he wasn’t a feudal patriarch. He could only half support their relationship seeing his little brother was motivated to study after falling in love with the top student.

Fu Cheng hardly slept at night, and got up at 5 o’clock and washed mechanically. Then he sat on the sofa and stared at the old and rusty door.

In the process of waiting, Fu Cheng was anxious and scared. He couldn’t suppress his anxiety and had to take out a cigarette, which he hadn’t touched in a long time.

The living room became smokey, but the smell surrounding him slightly eased his nerves.

6 o’clock.

7 o’clock.

8 o’clock……

Before, Fu Cheng never would’ve thought that one day he would wait for someone or expect a person’s presence. It felt uncomfortable to give the other party control and initiative. But, because it was Lin Yuan……

He couldn’t help it.

It was 9 o’clock, the time when Lin Yuan usually arrived. Fu Cheng’s body unconsciously tensed and his dark eyes hid the beast inside of him as he bored a hole into the door.

“Dong, dong, dong……”

Finally, knocks on the door sounded and Lin Yuan’s soft voice pierced through the gloomy air: “Fu Cheng~”

The voice was so mesmerizing that Fu Cheng didn’t react at first. Only when Lin Yuan called him again, did he get up from the sofa in haste.

Lin Yuan stood outside the door. His brown hair looked darker in the shadowy corridor, but his eyes were still bright and shining, and the dimples on his cheeks deepened on his clean, pale skin.

Fu Cheng’s mouth became a little dry and he said in a hoarse voice: “... You’re here…”

Lin Yuan nodded twice and his eyes curved: “En, I told my brother and he allowed me.”

Lin Yuan changed into slippers and was about to walk into the living room when his back was suddenly covered by a warm body.

Lin Yuan was stunned by the sudden hug. A faint smell of tobacco, mixed with the hot body temperature of the teenager behind him, made Lin Yuan fall into an indescribable trance.

He remembered that Huo Chen, because of his illness, had a low body temperature and bad health. Although he later exercised and got better and his body warmed up, he still felt colder than ordinary people.

The difference between hot and cold was obvious, but at this time, Lin Yuan was a little confused. It was as if…… as if the person hugging him was the same as Huo Chen.

After he became human, only Huo Chen and Fu Cheng had hugged him like this, so maybe he made a mistake.

Lin Yuan came back to his senses and wanted to break free, but the teenager’s slightly trembling voice sounded next to his ear: “...Last night I was so scared I couldn’t sleep. I waited for you for a long, long time. I… I thought you wouldn’t come…”

“Lin Yuan… what should I do? I’m really scared, I’ve never felt this way before. This house is too quiet……”

Fu Cheng held Lin Yuan tightly and noticed that the person in his arms stopped struggling. He slowly moved his hand down.

Sure enough, Lin Yuan’s heart softened whenever he acted meek or weak. This was the best way to arouse his sympathy.

Knowing this, Fu Cheng almost laughed out loud. Where Lin Yuan couldn’t see, his appearance was delicate and dazzling, wearing a perfect mask. He was like a beautiful demon. He wore a layer of beautiful skin, but inside he was full of demonic spirit and scheming thoughts.

Lin Yuan thought to himself that Fu Cheng relied on him because he had saved him and accompanied him. He treated this hug as a symbol of support between friends.

Lin Yuan patted Fu Cheng’s hand around his waist and comforted him: “Don’t be afraid. Didn’t I say that I’ll stay with you? I keep my word.”

Fu Cheng tightened his arms and hugged Lin Yuan harder. His voice was filled with helplessness and uneasiness.

“But… even they don’t want me. They abandoned me. I’m scared that later you’ll also abandon me……”

Lin Yuan thought to himself that the other lacked a sense of security. In that slender body of the teenager, he did not have the usual liveliness or confidence of youth, instead it was empty, like a toothpick tower that could collapse with a touch.

“I won’t, believe in me.” Lin Yuan reached behind him and patted Fu Cheng’s head. The other’s hair was a little stiff.

He gently rubbed Fu Cheng’s hair and repeated softly: “Believe in me, Fu Cheng. I won’t.”

Fu Cheng didn’t not believe him, or more accurately, wanted to believe, but past experience and reality told him that he shouldn't believe it. He didn’t have the courage to believe it.

The fullness and warmth in his arms left him satisfied, but also hungry for more.

【Di! Congrats host, the villain’s blackening value has decreased to 86%.】

【Di! Congrats host, the villain’s blackening value has decreased to 85%.】

【Di! Congrats host, the villain’s blackening value has decreased to 84%.】

System prompts sounded one after the other until the blackening value stopped at 80%. It was still a relatively high number.

Hearing these prompts, Lin Yuan was both happy and regretful.

He was wrong to think that Fu Cheng was a bad kid when he read the plot. He should’ve realized that Fu Cheng was just an abandoned child, who roared his pain out to the rest of the world.

Lin Yuan believed that if Fu Cheng’s parents did not commit adultery and divorce, their family would’ve been happy, and Fu Cheng would’ve been the most excellent teenager in the world.

After a long time, Fu Cheng was a little more satisfied and felt that it was time to let go of Lin Yuan. He deliberately made himself cry a little, so now his eyes were red and wet, and the tears on his face were still damp.

When Lin Yuan saw him like this, he felt a wave of sympathy and gently wiped the other’s tears and coaxed: “Don’t cry……”

Fu Cheng accepted Lin Yuan’s tenderness and care and greedily locked it away in the deepest part of his heart.

After coaxing Fu Cheng, Lin Yuan pulled him over to sit on the sofa and finally noticed that there were over a dozen cigarette butts in the ashtray. He wrinkled his nose and smelled the smoke that had not yet completely dispersed and his face fell.

“Fu Cheng!” Lin Yuan stared at Fu Cheng and said angrily: “Your injury isn’t healed yet but you smoked!”

Fu Cheng immediately pretended to be sad and said: “I’m sorry, I was wrong. But when I was waiting for you, I was too anxious and had to smoke to calm down.”

He leaned over Lin Yuan and put his head on the other’s shoulder and said softly: “I won’t do it again.”

Lin Yuan heard Fu Cheng’s obedient words and his anger deflated like a popped balloon: “Then… you can’t smoke during this time. You also can’t smoke after, okay?”

Lin Yuan did not like nor dislike the smell of tobacco, but he knew that smoking was bad for the body.

Fu Cheng didn’t immediately agree. He looked up at Lin Yuan meaningfully and said: “If you are here, I won’t smoke.”

If you aren’t here, then it doesn’t matter.

So for the rest of summer vacation, Lin Yuan spent his time at Fu Cheng’s house just doing two things, receiving make-up lessons, and doing homework.

The day before school started, Lin Yuan moved back to his apartment close to No.1 High School. Before he went to bed, he video called Fu Cheng.

Lin Yuan couldn’t help nagging him again: “You have to stay at home and recuperate. Listen to me, okay?”

Fu Cheng couldn’t go to school for at least ten days because of his injury.

Because Lin Yuan was extra worried, it was already his fifth time saying this. Fu Cheng smiled contentedly and whispered: “En, I’ll listen to you.”

The day Fu Cheng returned to school, he was enthusiastically welcomed by everyone in Class 3. His seat was quickly surrounded by people.

Fu Cheng was actually annoyed by these people, but he had to endure. Luckily, the enthusiasm died down after the morning.

At noon, Lin Yuan and Fu Cheng ate at the canteen. Because Fu Cheng was a top student, the school grass, and the boss of all the bullies, he was a very popular figure in No.1. High School. In the past, no one had ever seen him eat with others.

Now, the boss suddenly had lunch with a handsome boy. One person became ten, ten became a hundred, and soon the entire school knew about it.

The second generation ancestors of Class 3 were wondering which brave hero had lunch with their brother Fu. After returning to the classroom, they saw their brother Fu sitting next to Lin Yuan and supporting Lin Yuan’s cheek.

Their movement at the door was a little loud, and Lin Yuan looked up in a daze. Fu Cheng immediately lightly patted his back: “It’s nothing, you sleep.”

After saying that, Fu Cheng expressionlessly looked at the group of people and raised a finger to his lips, signaling them to be quiet.

Class 3 student: I’ve solved the case. This must be the the brave hero.

Lin Yuan had a comfortable afternoon nap. When he woke up, he was shocked by the group of people around him.

“Do you need something?” Lin Yuan scratched his head in confusion.

“Yes, yes! Young master Lin, how on earth did you get close to Brother Fu?” A student asked.

“Exactly, how did you do it? Teach us, we also want to be buddies with Brother Fu.”

Lin Yuan didn’t understand and looked at Fu Cheng.

Fu Cheng hooked Lin Yuan’s shoulder and talked to these students seriously for the first time: “Can’t learn. It’s a life saving grace that I need to pay back with my body.”
