Arc 9: Chapter 8

The fingers pinching Lin Yuan’s chin were cold and bloodless like a corpse. But the man’s face was extremely bewitching, when his phoenix shaped eyes narrowed, his inky pupils seemed to hook your soul.

Lin Yuan’s brain couldn’t keep up with this situation fast enough.

Wasn’t this his third husband, Yu Jin?

Yu Jin was a ghost king who didn’t make an appearance in the plot, and was only described with a few lines. He was always dressed in a dragon robe and holding a red umbrella, moreover, he was the only ghost king who survived nine hundred and eight-one thunder strikes from the Heavenly Way.

Yu Jin had no memory of his life before he became a ghost, and he didn’t persist in regaining his memories. He merely walked past mountains and rivers, leaving no traces.

So Lin Yuan thought even if he lived past his eighteenth birthday, it would take a long time before he found Yu Jin.

Seeing the teenager’s shocked appearance, Yu Jin playfully raised an eyebrow: “Kid, have you looked enough?”

The beauty suddenly teased and smiled, making Lin Yuan flush and he quickly stammered: “I- you- I’ve seen such a beautiful person, no- I mean, a beautiful ghost…”

Yu Jin laughed softly, his voice clear and unhurried: “Don’t be so easily fooled by appearances. If you saw what I looked like when I died, then you’d be terrified.”

Lin Yuan shook his head seriously. Even if he was afraid of ghosts, he would never be scared of husband: “I won’t be scared, because I’ll never be afraid of you.”

Yu Jin misunderstood that the teenager said so because he was enchanted by his looks.

Seeing Lin Yuan’s clear and bright eyes, Yu Jin felt a surge of hunger from his soul. The instinctive longing for the extreme Yin body made Lin Yuan the biggest temptation for him.

The car stopped in front of Lin Yuan’s house. After Lin Yuan opened the car door, he turned back and pulled Yu Jin’s sleeve and asked: “Would you like to visit my home?”

If Yu Jin left, then Lin Yuan didn’t know when he could meet his husband again, so he had to hold on to him tightly.

Yu Jin looked at the soft and smaller hand. He inexplicably felt that the teenager was more like a vixen than he was.

Yu Jin smiled and said casually: “Sure.”

Lin Yuan was surprised to hear Yu Jin agree. His eyes brightened and a happy smile bloomed on his face. He suddenly remembered that the driver was still there and said to the driver: “Mister, don’t tell Sir that I brought someone else back home, please?”

The driver who was silent the whole time pretended to smile agreeably: “Of course, I definitely won’t tell Xie- Mr. Xie.”

As the car drove away, Yu Jin’s fingers flicked slightly and a wisp of black gas penetrated into the driver’s head.

Since the teenager didn’t want anyone else to know, then he’d make it so.

Lin Yuan excitedly circled around Yu Jin and chatted: “My name is Lin Yuan, and my nickname is Sui Sui. You can call me Sui Sui. What’s your name?”

Yu Jin had the illusion of talking to a little rabbit. He responded: “Yu Jin.”

Lin Yuan softly recited it several times, exuding happiness. As the teenager continued to prattle, Yu Jin’s gaze landed on the teenager’s thin and porcelain-white neck.

Behind the teenager’s back, Yu Jin raised his hand and faintly touched the side of Lin Yuan’s neck. A thread of resentful gas was caught in his hand, twisting desperately like a snake. The man clenched his fist, and then the gas was crushed and scattered by the wind, disappearing without a trace.

Lin Yuan had no idea what was going on. He suddenly felt his neck was less sore but didn’t think so much.

Stepping into the house, Lin Yuan realized that there were several strangers in the living room, including two police.

In the plot, Father and Mother Lin finally called the police to find Lin Wang. But when the police tried to ask the cannon fodder Lin Yuan, his mood was very unstable and he couldn’t give coherent answers, so the police had to give up asking him.

Lin Yuan expectantly looked forward to his turn to act. He looked up at Yu Jin and said: “Sorry, can you go to my room first and wait for me? It’s the room farthest down the hallway.”

Yu Jin didn’t show any displeasure and said understandingly: “Do your own thing, don’t worry about me.”

Lin Yuan hummed obediently. He walked into the living room and called loudly: “Dad, I’m back.”

Father Lin beckoned hurriedly towards him: “Good timing, the police have something to ask you.”

Lin Yuan sat down on the sofa in front of the police.

The police showed a friendly smile: “Lin Yuan, we’d just like to ask you a few questions. Can you tell us when you last saw your brother?”

Lin Yuan recounted everything that happened yesterday, just as he told his parents, without missing a single detail.

But as he expected, they didn’t believe him, because what he described was completely otherworldly. Instead, the police thought Lin Yuan’s clear headedness was the most suspicious, because he was just too calm compared to his anxious parents.

The other police questioned: “Your brother is missing right now, why don’t you feel worried at all?”

Lin Yuan was aggrieved: “I might not even survive past my eighteenth birthday, how can I control my brother’s affairs?”

Mother Lin’s patience snapped and she screamed: “Lin Yuan, enough! Stop talking nonsense and tell us what on earth happened to your brother?”

Lin Yuan jumped in fright from Mother Lin’s shout and scratched his hair with some distress.

Yu Jin, who was invisible to everyone else, was actually reclined on the sofa. He turned slowly towards Lin Yuan and fiddled with the tassels on his umbrella: “Do you want me to show up? I can help you prove that what you said is true.”

Lin Yuan thought for a bit and decided against it. He was afraid it would be more difficult to deal with if Yu Jin showed up. Instead, he untied the blue tassel tied to the hilt of his Yuqing sword which hid its presence.

To everyone else at the scene, a sword suddenly appeared in Lin Yuan’s hands like magic.

Lin Yuan said: “This is the sword I begged from the master who saved me yesterday. I haven’t used it to harm anyone, I just hold it to feel assured. I’m telling the truth when I say I don’t know what’s happened to my brother. The master told me he was taken away by a ghost king.”

The teenager looked at the police and said softly: “Are you thinking that I’m crazy? Do you think its strange that I’m not worried about my missing brother? But why would I be worried? I saw with my own eyes that there were ghosts chasing us. A master saved me by chance, but I likely won’t live past eighteen anyways.”

He smiled bitterly: “If you think I have a mental illness and want to send me to the hospital, just wait to see if I survive a month later.”

The police were even more puzzled. The appearance of the sword made them half-heartedly believe Lin Yuan’s words.

Entering his room, Lin Yuan let Yu Jin sit on the bed. He took out the box of snacks he had bought before and offered them to the other: “Feel free to eat anything, these are delicious!”

Yu Jin looked at these colorful snacks with amusement. He flicked Lin Yuan’s forehead lightly and chuckled: “I’m a ghost and you’re an extreme Yin body. What should I really be eating, hm?”

These words made Lin Yuan remember what he and Xiao Ying were doing in the bedroom. His ears silently reddened, but his shyness felt different for some reason. Xiao Ying didn’t understand anything, but Yu Jin was different.

Lin Yuan thought for a moment and then slid his fingers across the edge of the Yuqing sword. A thin line of blood appeared on his hand, which he raised towards Yu Jin’s lips: “Here, I- I’m willing.”

A tempting, sweet aroma spread throughout the air. Yu Jin was unreserved, and he grabbed the teenager’s wrist, and started to slowly savor the other person’s blood.

The ghost’s cold and slippery tongue swept past the wound and sucked hard. Yu Jin’s eyelids shut as if he was enjoying a fine delicacy.

Lin Yuan felt as if all of his nerves were concentrated in his hand, making him tremble slightly and his eyes teared up.

Yu Jin sucked the wound until no more blood came out, and then slowly opened his eyes and let go of the teenager. He licked his lips as if basking in the afterglow. The handsome man’s lips were ruddier than before, making him look even more charming.

“Sui Sui, right? You invited me to your home and fed me. Do you want me to help you survive your eighteenth birthday?”

Lin Yuan was enlightened after Yu Jin said this. Why didn’t he think of this good idea? Lin Wang could live thanks to his ghost king husband, and he also had a ghost king husband.

But then he remembered that Xie Daolan said he had to rely on his own fate. If Yu Jin helped him change his fate, would it be bad for his husband?

Lin Yuan said what he was thinking and looked at Yu Jin with concern.

Yu Jin felt the child was a little too naive. He pulled Lin Yuan onto his lap and was about to explain, when he suddenly sensed something and said with interest: “Sui Sui, someone is looking for you. Look behind you.”

Lin Yuan looked behind him with confusion and saw a mass of black fog.

The fog dissipated, leaving an expressionless Xie Daolan and an angry Xiao Ying standing in the room.
