Arc 8: Chapter 2

As an employee, the attendant looked at Jin Ran with sympathy.

Lin Yuan opened the container, scooped a full spoonful of soup, and brought it to Jin Ran’s lips.

Although Jin Ran was disgusted in his heart, no one could tell from his expression. He smiled at Lin Yuan and thanked him.

Even though his smile seemed harmless, Lin Yuan could tell at a glance that the teenager hated him. Those eyes were cold and full of dislike, and his curved lips were two pixels lower than a standard smile.

The attendant peaked out of his fingers, waiting to see Lin Yuan pour the soup onto Jin Ran.

Jin Ran was also waiting.

But spoonful after spoonful, until the bottom of the container could be seen, nothing happened.

Lin Yuan capped the container and even took two napkins to wipe Jin Ran’s mouth.

A trace of surprise was evident in Jin Ran’s eyes, and the attendant’s jaw had dropped open. When they were both wondering if Lin Yuan had lost his mind, Lin Yuan wiped his hands and sneered: “I came to see you and took care of you, so don’t say nonsense in front of Mom and Dad, got it?”

Jin Ran’s heart cooled. He knew Lin Yuan was cold-blooded and selfish. He had almost lost his life, but Lin Yuan thought a visit and a bowl of soup was enough to put this matter behind him.

Jin Ran stared at Lin Yuan’s thin fingers that had held the spoon. Unlike other rich young masters, Lin Yuan’s fingers were bony and frail-looking. Instead of being smooth and fair, his skin was uneven from numerous small scars.

Jin Ran lowered his eyes and wanted to laugh at himself. Feeling pity towards the person who almost got him killed? He gritted his teeth hatefully, and he said in a low voice: “It was my own carelessness that caused the accident, it had nothing to do with you.”

Being the perpetrator and causing the victim to take all of the blame, Lin Yuan felt like he was the worst scum to ever scum! He scolded the original Lin Yuan 1800 times in his heart.

On the outside, Lin Yuan was unforgiving: “Those are your own words, I didn’t force you to say them.”

Jin Ran nodded silently.

Lin Yuan didn’t have any more face to stay with Jin Ran. He got up and strode out: “Well then… I’m leaving.”

Just as Jin Ran was about to release a breath, Lin Yuan poked his head back in and said: “I’ll come in tomorrow.”

The attendant was shocked, and Jin Ran frowned slightly.

The door closed, and Jin Ran waited a few minutes before he said to the attendant coldly: “Take the lunchbox away. It’s so disgusting I want to vomit.”

No one knew that in the ward, a little furball was still there. Hearing this, 521 flapped its wings and left the ward. Outside, Lin Yuan squatted in the corner and drew circles listlessly.

521 told Lin Yuan what Jin Ran said.

Lin Yuan bit his lower lip and his eyes reddened. A lot of things ran through his mind. Jin Ran’s blackening value, the original Lin Yuan, and the future of the world… This mission seemed to be impossible, and Lin Yuan couldn’t think of a solution.

521 saw that Lin Yuan’s mood was wrong and it rubbed against him sympathetically. It sighed and said in resignation: “Senior, it’s okay if we fail this task. We already succeeded so many times anyways. This time your husband-”

“That’s right!” Lin Yuan jumped up with burning eyes.

“Ah?” 521 fluttered in the air in confusion, “What’s right?” Why did the mood change so quickly?

Lin Yuan wiped away his tears and hardened his fists. He had gone through so many worlds and succeeded. This time… he would trust in his husband and his husband’s love for him!

Lin Yuan turned around and pushed open the door of the ward. Under the quaking pupils of the attendant, he sat down right in front of Jin Ran’s bed.

Lin Yuan’s hair was slightly brown and his eyes were also more amber in color. His soft curls bounced lightly, and he stared straight at Jin Ran: “I fed you soup and you say it’s disgusting. It seems like everything you say is just a lie.”

He pinched Jin Ran’s chin and sneered: “Jin Ran, do you think the soup is disgusting or I am disgusting?”

Jin Ran stayed silent and his gaze was quiet, almost lifeless.

Lin Yuan’s voice was actually quite pleasant to the ears if you ignored his words. His tone was smooth and warm, completely different from his twisted personality.

Not hearing a response, Lin Yuan snorted and let go: “Not talking? That means you must think I’m disgusting. Since you think so, then I’ll make sure you’re disgusted to your heart’s content.”

Lin Yuan slightly tilted his head: “Hey, when will he be able to wash up?”

The attendant belatedly realized he was the one being asked, and stammered: “The doc-doctor said in a few days.”

Jin Ran didn’t believe that Lin Yuan had good intentions. He regretted speaking his thoughts out loud just now, he should’ve made sure that Lin Yuan had left.

For the next few days, Jin Ran was on guard whenever Lin Yuan appeared in the ward, expecting the worst. But when he heard Lin Yuan ask someone to bring in a basin of hot water and told everyone else to leave the room, his indifferent mask finally began to crack.

Lin Yuan washed and disinfected his hands.

Jin Ran watched Lin Yuan come closer and he couldnt help but tense.

In one fell swoop, Lin Yuan lifted the blanket and reached for Jin Ran’s clothes, preparing to undress him. Lin Yuan already knew Jin Ran had multiple fractures and two broken ribs, so the other could barely move at all.

Lin Yuan’s hands touched Jin Ran’s collar, close to the other’s neck.

Jin Ran’s breathing stagnated for a second and he looked deeply towards Lin Yuan: “You’re really going to help me?”

Lin Yuan unhurriedly unbuttoned the hospital gown. His eyes curved as he smiled: “Of course. I said I would disgust you to your heart’s content.”

Jin Ran was really angry this time. He felt like Lin Yuan was even more evil than before, but he couldn’t fight back at all.

The only thing he could do was close his eyes and turn his head away, refusing to give Lin Yuan any reaction.

Without Jin Ran staring at him, Lin Yuan secretly let out a sigh of relief. He soaked a towel in hot water and wrung it out, then he carefully scrubbed Jin Ran’s body. His movements were light and gentle, and like a feature itching across Jin Ran’s skin.

Jin Ran was only eighteen, and he had a slender and skinnier build. His skin was naturally pale, making the wounds on his body seem particularly glaring.

Seeing all of these injuries, Lin Yuan was crying in his heart. He wanted to coax and comfort Jin Ran, but he was the last person who could do this.

When Jin Ran felt his pants being taken off, he really rathered that Lin Yuan poured the bucket of water on him than suffering from this kind of torture.

Lin Yuan was here purely to help Jin Ran, and his thoughts were very clean. But when he saw Jin Ran junior, he couldn’t help but feel his ears flush.

Pretty big…

And he’s only 18…

Lin Yuan quickly averted his eyes in order to prevent his thoughts from going astray. Anyways, wasn’t it normal for guys to compare sizes in the bathroom…?

He tsk-ed and said: “Jin Ran, you must’ve grown so big thanks to living well in my family for so many years. If I was like you, then I’d be able to be this big too.”

This is what straight men were like, right? Lin Yuan guessed.

Jin Ran almost choked on air. How ridiculous, is the size affected by how much you eat?

And, the other meaning behind these words was that Lin Yuan was smaller. Lin Yuan had already come back for three years, if he didn’t grow in this golden period, then Lin Yuan was just destined to be small.

When this torturous process was finally over, Jin Ran let out a huge sigh of relief in his heart.

Lin Yuan covered Jin Ran with the blanket and pinched Jin Ran’s chin, forcing him to face him: “Open your eyes.”

Jin Ran’s dense eyelashes slowly moved and his dark eyes opened. Everything was a bit blurry at first, and Lin Yuan’s face was hazy and unclear. After a few seconds, his vision normalized and he stared at Lin Yuan indifferently.

Lin Yuan let out an angry snort, like an unreasonable rascal. His small face was undeniably beautiful, but Jin Ran only saw a malicious, man-eating flower.

“Jin Ran, I cleaned you and did a good deed, shouldn’t you say thank you?”

Jin Ran thought this was the most ironic thing he’d ever heard. The reason why he was lying in the hospital unable to move was all because of Lin Yuan, but he had to thank him? Was Lin Yuan even a person?

Or maybe in Lin Yuan’s eyes, except for himself, everyone else’s life and death, pain and misery, all didn’t matter.

Jin Ran kept all of his thoughts hidden. He weakly lowered his head and he said in a hoarse voice: “Thank you.”

Hearing this, Lin Yuan smiled at Jin Ran. He stared at Jin Ran’s face, and then as if he had discovered something novel, his eyes widened slightly and he leaned in closer.

Lin Yuan’s thin fingers touched the teenager’s brows, gently tracing the contours of Jin Ran’s features as if he was inspecting an object.

Jin Ran’s pupils trembled slightly. Lin Yuan’s finger felt like a venomous snake that could pierce his skin at any second, and he couldn’t move at all.

Lin Yuan’s fingers rested on Jin Ran’s lips, and his clear voice was as sharp as knives.

“Jin Ran, have you ever fallen in love?”
