Wish for Peace to the Future.
Stories of the Atomic Bombing Told by Children in Hawaii
【 ミュージカル概要 (About the Musical) 】
The musical PEACE ON YOUR WINGS tells the story of the life of Sadako Sasaki, the model for the Children of the Atomic Bomb statue in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, after the bombing.
Premiered in 2015 by the children of Ohana Arts in Honolulu, Hawaii, the excitement spread to the mainland U.S., where it was performed in 15 cities, including New York and Los Angeles.
In 2023, the play will be performed in Hiroshima, the birthplace of Sadako. In 2025, on the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing, a performance will be held in Fukuoka.
The prayers and wishes contained in a single folded paper crane convey to us the “preciousness of peace” that transcends time and country.
Story <Performed in English with Japanese subtitles>
Ten years have passed since the atomic bombing. Sadako Sasaki and her friends were living their lives energetically and vigorously toward their respective dreams in the city of Hiroshima, which was making progress toward reconstruction.
Overcoming the dark past of war, the children live with smiles on their faces, believing in the future. However, the shadow of radiation is silently but surely approaching them, and Teiko is soon enveloped by it. However, Teiko does not give up.
With hope in her heart, she continued to fold paper cranes, one by one, with a wish for peace.
Her wish eventually reached the hearts of her friends.
Although Teiko's life was cut short in the process, her “wish for peace” was certainly carried on. The friends who rose from their deep grief created a statue of the “Children of the Atomic Bomb” in order to spread Teiko's wishes to the world.
This musical is a “message to the future” from the children who never forgot their hope and continued to believe in peace even in the midst of difficulties.
It is a hymn to peace that resonates in the hearts of each and every one of us.

■Tickets with support (including online viewing): for Good! (crowdfunding website)
Through this performance, we hope to convey the “preciousness of peace” to as many people as possible. However, this challenge will cost a lot of money.
While this year's Hiroshima performance will be held as a municipal project, the Fukuoka performance is being run completely by an executive committee of private-sector volunteers. Moreover, it is a very limited opportunity, with only two performances on one weekday.
Raising ticket prices would help cover operating costs, but we want as many children, young people, and people who wish for peace to see the performances as possible. That is why we aim to keep ticket prices low.
As a result, we are unable to cover our expenses from ticket revenues alone. We hope to cover the shortfall through crowdfunding and corporate sponsorships. (Click here for more information on how the event was organized and the details of the event.)
We are sincerely looking forward to your warm support.

Thoughts Connected by Paper Cranes
Sadako Sasaki folded one paper crane while praying for her recovery from illness.
It has transcended time and country, and continues to convey the “preciousness of peace” to those of us living today.
We hope that this performance will be an opportunity to think about peace together with children who will be responsible for the future.
