The 100 Project

Connect. Converse. Create. Capsule.

Welcome

Welcome to our Peace in Mind: The 100 project page. This page will describe our plans for this one-of-a-kind project in Northern Ireland, focused on sharing the stories from 100 women connected to this beautiful land. We are so honored to welcome you into this safe space for us, as a team, to make history.

Our plan for this project is to create 100 pages, with 100 pieces of art from 100 women. This artwork will then be bound into a beautiful book, hand crafted with sustainable & ethical materials by the very talented
Wilhelmina Peace.
This book will travel, and a temporary digital version will be made available online.

This book will then be placed in a time capsule to be opened in, you guessed it...100 years!

The Essence of the 100

No one would argue that there is much healing needed in the world. The idea of planting 100 voices is not to hide or silence but quite the opposite. It is a connection with voice and the land, nurturing the earth for reconciliation with the land, harvesting a better world and symbolizing new growth of togetherness.

For us all we would like to think that in 100 years the imbalance issues we face now with gender discrimination, sectarianism, racism, and lack of care of our planet and will no longer exist. The 100 women in the book represent this hope.

For you 100 participants, this is a deep journey of self-learning - your sense of belonging at this moment in time and your self-representation and message to those viewing your page in 100 years after you have gone.

2021 is the centenary year of Northern Ireland. Some may recognise this and some may not. And that is OK. The project is about you, in the here & now, in this year.

Peace in Mind

Peace In Mind is a wider programme of activities and projects using arts to explore our inner peace (mental health) and peaceful healthy communities. Peace in Mind projects have also connected with the Sustainable Development Goals. The principal funder is the Arts Council Northern Ireland.

The Process

Connect

The first stage will be connecting together our unique, diverse group of women. We are committed to curating a group with women of all ages, all backgrounds and all artistic abilities. If you think you are not an artist....you're wrong! We are all artists and having that inner feminine essence is all we need to be a part of this community.

Converse

This stage is very important. We are organising some workshops for you, centered on the themes of identity and creativity. This will be a chance for you to meet each other and understand the project better, whilst fostering ideas of belonging and strength as a creative community.

Create

What you've all been waiting for! We will send you two A4 high quality pages in the post (one as a backup!), with the means to send back to us, or you will receive them during the workshop if you are attending an in-person workshop. On one side you will express your sense of belonging and identity through a creative form. This can be anything from a poem, a short story, a drawing or a song written as a music score, a photo - anything artistic that can be put on a page.

On the other side of your page will be space to write some words about yourself and, if you wish, some explanation about your creative expression.

Capsule

You will send back your piece of art to us (details will be provided with your pages). These will then be bound into our sustainable, ethically sourced book. This book will tour all counties of Northern Ireland and will be available online until the book is placed in the time capsule. The book will then be removed from the internet...not to be seen again for 100 years, connecting each of us to this astonishing land, long after we're gone.
