Economical success is a big reason as to why wars happen. As history beckons some of the wars fought for economical gain are the American Revolutionary war, the Opium wars and the first Anglo Dutch war. Also we shouldn't forget that wars are fought for land. Countries can concquer other ones for more land which leads to abuntant recourses and better lifestyle for the common citizens.
