A Notion, A Scream, led by Artistic Director DeReau K. Farrar, is recruiting young singers for a Children’s Choir (ages 8–12) for a moving masterwork titled “I Have Something to Say” by violinist and composer Jessie Montgomery, with text by playwright and activist Robbie McCauley.
Our children’s choir will be led by local musician/music educator Lynn Mendoza-Khan. In addition to the Montgomery piece, the children will perform "Who I Want To Be," written by Coty Raven Morris, a choral professor at Portland State University. We are looking to cast 20 treble singers aged 8 to 12. No prior advanced experience is required—just curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to lend your voice to something meaningful. A Workshop and information session for interested singers will be held 6-7p March 11th at Reedwood Friends Church. There will be nine rehearsals, plus the concert on May 30th 6-9p. If your child would like to participate, please fill out this Children’s Choir form (click the link) to reserve a spot at the March 18 workshop.
Despite her modesty, the artist did pass her audition.
