PDF Tools is designed with privacy in mind.
Your documents are processed on your device whenever the feature supports local processing. PDF Tools does not upload your PDFs, images, scans, or document text to servers operated by GRTECH.
PDF passwords you enter are used locally for the requested operation. We do not intentionally store, log, or transmit your PDF passwords.
The free version may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Google may process certain device and advertising information as described below.
Premium purchases are processed through Google Play. GRTECH does not receive your payment card or payment credentials.
The app may use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage and diagnose technical problems. These services are configured to minimize the information collected and are not intended to receive your documents, document text, filenames, file paths, or PDF passwords.
Where applicable, advertising and analytics behavior is subject to your consent and privacy choices.
This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Tools ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Android application.
It applies to PDF Tools and its features operated by GRTECH.
Third-party services used by the app, including Google Play, Google AdMob, Google User Messaging Platform, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics, may process information under their own privacy policies and terms.
PDF Tools uses Android's built-in Storage Access Framework and document picker.
The app generally accesses files and folders that you explicitly select, or files that another application sends to PDF Tools through Android's sharing or "Open with" functionality.
The app does not require general storage access to browse your entire device.
PDF Tools is designed to perform supported PDF operations locally on your device.
Depending on the features available in your version of the app, this may include:
viewing PDFs;
searching PDF text;
converting images to PDF;
creating PDFs from text;
merging PDFs;
splitting PDFs;
extracting PDF pages;
reordering pages;
rotating pages;
deleting pages;
compressing PDFs;
scanning documents;
protecting PDFs with passwords; and
removing PDF passwords when the correct password is supplied.
Your document content is not intentionally uploaded to GRTECH servers.
To provide features such as your library, favorites, recent files, history, and file management, PDF Tools may store information locally on your device.
Depending on the features you use, this may include:
a reference to a file's location so the app can reopen it;
permission information needed to access a selected file;
filename;
file size;
page count;
created, modified, or last-opened dates;
folders or organization information;
favorites;
Trash information;
the last page viewed;
whether a PDF is password-protected; and
local operation history.
This locally stored information is not intentionally sent to GRTECH, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or advertisers.
Some PDF operations require temporary working files.
Where possible, these files are stored in the app's private storage area so that other applications cannot directly access them.
Temporary files are removed when they are no longer required. Some temporary files may remain for a limited period after an interrupted operation and are removed by the app's cleanup process.
Password-protected PDF operations may require temporary processing copies. These copies are intended only for the requested operation and are not intentionally uploaded to GRTECH or analytics services.
PDF Tools generally creates output files separately from your originals.
An original file is only modified, moved, renamed, or deleted when you explicitly perform an operation that requests such an action.
You should keep a backup of important documents before performing destructive operations.
When you protect a PDF, remove a password, or open a password-protected PDF, the password you enter is used locally for the requested operation.
PDF Tools does not intentionally store PDF passwords in:
the app database;
application settings;
analytics events;
Crashlytics custom data;
backup data; or
ordinary application logs.
PDF passwords are not intentionally transmitted to GRTECH.
PDF Tools cannot recover or bypass a forgotten PDF password.
If you forget a password, you may be unable to access the protected document.
If the document scanner is available, PDF Tools requests camera access only when the scanner requires it.
Camera images used for scanning are processed locally by the application.
Temporary scan data may be stored in the app's private storage while the scan is being created.
Scan images and document contents are not intentionally sent to GRTECH, Firebase Analytics, or Crashlytics.
You may deny camera permission. Other application features that do not require the camera can continue to be used.
If the Text to PDF feature stores drafts locally, the text you enter may be saved in the application's private storage so that your work is not unnecessarily lost.
The text is not intentionally sent to GRTECH, Firebase Analytics, or Crashlytics.
You can remove locally stored drafts by using the relevant app controls, clearing the app's data, or uninstalling the application.
PDF Tools may store application preferences locally, including settings such as:
theme;
list or grid display;
sorting preferences;
default folders;
tool settings;
selected save location;
backup-related preferences;
Premium status;
Premium plan information; and
analytics or crash-reporting preferences.
These settings are primarily stored locally on your device.
Backups are created only when you initiate a backup.
The app may create a .pdftools backup file and save it to a location you select using Android's file picker.
The selected location may be:
local device storage; or
a storage provider available through Android's document picker.
If you choose a third-party cloud storage provider, that provider's own privacy policy and security practices apply.
PDF Tools does not independently upload backups to GRTECH servers.
Depending on the backup implementation, a backup may contain:
copies of PDFs in your library, excluding items that have been permanently removed;
filenames;
file sizes;
page counts;
dates;
folders;
favorites;
reading positions;
display preferences; and
applicable application settings.
PDF passwords are not intentionally included as plain-text passwords in backups.
Backup files may contain copies of documents and should therefore be treated as sensitive files.
Unless the application's current implementation explicitly provides encryption for backup files, you should assume that backup files are not independently encrypted by PDF Tools and should store and share them carefully.
Android may provide its own application backup functionality depending on your device, Android version, and system settings.
The information included in Android system backups is controlled by Android and the application's configured backup rules.
Google's applicable backup policies and your device settings determine how such backups are handled.
The free version of PDF Tools may display advertisements through Google AdMob.
Depending on the advertising configuration, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as:
advertising identifiers;
device and app information;
operating system information;
language;
IP address;
approximate location derived from IP address;
information about advertisements shown; and
interactions with advertisements.
The advertising SDK is not intended to receive the contents of your PDFs, scanned documents, document text, or PDF passwords.
Advertising may be personalized or non-personalized depending on applicable law, your consent, your device settings, and Google's advertising configuration.
Where required, PDF Tools uses Google's consent mechanisms before requesting applicable advertising-related consent.
You may manage applicable advertising and consent choices through the mechanisms provided by the app, Google, and your Android device.
Premium users may receive an ad-free experience according to the Premium terms displayed in Google Play.
Premium purchases are processed through Google Play Billing.
GRTECH does not receive your payment card details or payment credentials.
Google Play may provide the application with information necessary to determine whether a Premium entitlement is active.
The application may locally store limited Premium status information needed to unlock Premium functionality.
Purchase information is handled by Google Play under Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
The Premium features and available plans are those displayed in Google Play and inside the application at the time of purchase.
PDF Tools may use:
Google Firebase Analytics; and
Google Firebase Crashlytics.
These services help us understand how the application is used and identify technical problems.
We aim to configure these services using data-minimization principles.
Depending on the application's configuration and your applicable privacy choices, analytics may include information such as:
which PDF features are used;
whether an operation succeeded or failed;
broad categories such as page-count or file-size ranges;
app version;
device model;
Android version;
language;
approximate country or region; and
Firebase-generated technical identifiers.
Analytics is intended to provide aggregated product and technical information.
Crashlytics may process technical information needed to diagnose crashes and unexpected application failures, including:
stack traces;
error categories;
app version;
Android version;
device model;
screen or feature involved;
operation involved; and
applicable application state such as Premium status.
The application is designed to avoid intentionally sending sensitive document information through Crashlytics.
PDF Tools is designed not to intentionally send the following information to Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics:
PDF contents;
scanned document images;
OCR text;
user-entered document text;
PDF passwords;
encryption keys;
filenames;
folder names;
complete file paths;
document URIs;
purchase tokens;
payment card details;
contact information;
email addresses;
phone numbers.
Where the application provides analytics and crash-reporting controls, you may disable those controls in the application's Settings.
Disabling analytics or crash reporting is intended to prevent future applicable data from being sent.
Information that has already been processed by Google may remain subject to Google's applicable retention and deletion policies.
Where applicable law requires consent for analytics or advertising-related processing, the app uses the applicable consent mechanism.
PDF Tools is designed so that core local PDF operations can work without an internet connection.
Internet connectivity may be used for services such as:
advertisements;
consent forms;
Google Play purchase and entitlement operations;
Firebase Analytics;
Firebase Crashlytics;
opening web pages that you explicitly choose to open.
The availability of network services does not mean that PDF documents are uploaded to GRTECH.
Depending on the features installed and enabled in the application, permissions may be used for the following purposes:
Camera: document scanning.
Internet / network access: advertising, consent services, Google Play services, Firebase services, and other explicitly required online functionality.
Google Play Billing: purchasing and restoring Premium.
Wake lock or similar system functionality: allowing certain long-running PDF operations to continue where required.
PDF Tools does not intentionally request access to contacts or precise location for its core PDF functionality.
The exact permissions used by the released application are disclosed through Android and Google Play.
GRTECH does not sell your personal information.
GRTECH does not intentionally share your documents with advertisers.
When you use Android's sharing functionality to send a PDF, backup, or other file to an application or service that you choose, the file is provided to that application or service.
That third party's own privacy policy and terms apply to its handling of the file.
Third-party providers such as Google may process information as described in their applicable privacy policies.
Information stored locally by PDF Tools generally remains on your device until you:
delete it using the application's features;
clear the application's data;
remove the relevant files; or
uninstall the application.
Backup files remain wherever you saved them until you delete them.
Information processed by Google through advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or Google Play is subject to Google's applicable retention and deletion policies.
Because GRTECH does not operate a server that stores your PDF documents, we generally do not have copies of your documents to delete.

PDF Tools is designed to process documents locally where possible and to keep temporary working files in protected application storage.
The application is also designed not to store PDF passwords.
No storage system, software, device, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You should:
use a secure device lock;
keep important documents backed up;
protect backup files;
avoid sharing sensitive files with untrusted applications; and
keep the application and Android system updated.
Where the application provides PDF password protection, the actual encryption strength depends on the PDF encryption implementation used by the application and the capabilities of the PDF format.
PDF Tools is a general-purpose productivity application and is not specifically directed toward children.
We do not knowingly request personal information from children for the purpose of creating user profiles.
Parents or guardians should supervise children's use of applications and purchases where appropriate.
PDF Tools may be available internationally.
Most document processing performed by the application is designed to take place on the user's device.
Third-party services such as Google may process information in countries other than the country where you live, subject to their applicable safeguards and policies.
Where applicable, privacy rights may include:
the right to access personal information;
the right to request correction;
the right to request deletion where applicable;
the right to restrict or object to certain processing;
the right to withdraw consent;
the right to complain to a relevant data protection authority.
Advertising and analytics processing may depend on applicable consent requirements and the privacy choices available to you.
