This Privacy Policy describes how PDF Reader (“the App”), published by MinionApps, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Android application.
1. Who we are
PDF Reader is a local PDF viewing app. You can open PDF files on your device, keep a library, mark favorites, add bookmarks, and optionally sign in to sync library data across devices.
2. Information we collect
On your device (even without signing in)
PDF files you open stay on your device. We do not upload the file contents.
Library data stored locally: document title, file path, page count, last page read, reading progress, file size, favorites, and bookmarks (including optional notes).
App settings such as theme preference.
If you sign in with Google
Your Google account email and display name.
A user ID used to sync your library.
This is used only so your library metadata, reading progress, favorites, and bookmarks can sync through our cloud provider (Supabase).
We do not collect
The contents of your PDF files.
Contacts, photos, camera, microphone, location, or SMS.
Payment card details. The App does not sell items in-app.
3. Advertising
The App shows banner ads from Google AdMob on the Home screen.
Google and its partners may collect and process device information (such as advertising ID, IP address, device type, and approximate location derived from IP) to show ads, measure performance, and fight fraud. This may include personalized ads where allowed by law and your device settings.
You can limit ad personalization in Android: Settings → Google → Ads (or Privacy → Ads), and use “Opt out of Ads Personalization” / reset advertising ID.
We do not sell your personal information. Ads are provided by Google; their practices are described in Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses data in apps.
4. How we use information
To open and remember your PDFs on the device.
To sync library metadata across devices if you sign in.
To show ads so the App can remain free.
To keep the App secure and working.
5. Cloud sync and third parties
If you sign in:
Google — sign-in authentication.
Supabase — stores your account profile (email, name) and library metadata (titles, progress, favorites, bookmarks). PDF file bytes are not uploaded.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We share information only:
With Google (sign-in and ads) and Supabase (optional sync), as needed to run the App.
If required by law.
If the App is transferred as part of a business change, with notice where required.
7. Data retention
Local data stays on your device until you clear app data or uninstall.
Signed-in cloud data is kept until you delete your account data or we delete it at your request.
Ad data is handled by Google according to their policies.
8. Your choices
Use the App without signing in; sync will stay off.
Sign out in Settings.
Uninstall the App to remove local data.
To delete cloud data associated with your sign-in, email us at moazzim.ali843@gmail.com.
Manage ad preferences in Android system settings as described above.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard protections (including encrypted connections). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
