• PDF.js library runs locally with web workers disabled for security

• PDF Files: Stored locally within your Power BI report using Microsoft's persistence framework

• Annotations: Drawing data is stored within your Power BI report alongside the PDF

• Configuration Settings: Visual settings are stored within your Power BI report

• No External Storage: No data is stored on external servers or databases

• Temporary Processing: PDF data may be temporarily held in memory during visual operations but follows Power BI's session management

• Disabled External Connections: The visual does not make HTTP/HTTPS requests to external servers

Access Control

• Data access is controlled entirely by Power BI's permission system

• Users can only view PDFs within reports they have been granted access to

• The visual respects all Power BI row-level security (RLS) configurations

• The visual does not integrate with any other third-party services

• No external APIs or web services are accessed

• No external fonts, libraries, or resources are loaded from remote sources during operation

Data Retention

• PDF Content: Retained within your Power BI report until manually removed or replaced

• Annotations: Persist with the report and can be cleared by uploading a new PDF

• Settings: Persist with the report and can be modified at any time

• No Historical Data: The visual does not maintain historical records, logs, or version history

Power BI Data

• Data retention is managed by Power BI according to your organization's policies

• The visual does not influence or modify Power BI's data retention behavior

• Users can remove the visual and all associated data (including PDFs) at any time

• Deleting the visual from a report removes all stored PDF content and annotations

User Rights and Control

You maintain complete control over your data:

• Upload/Replace PDF: Upload new PDFs or replace existing ones at any time

• Delete Visual: Remove the visual and all associated content from reports

• Clear Annotations: Upload a fresh PDF to remove all annotations

• Configuration: Modify all visual settings through Power BI's formatting panel

• Export: Standard Power BI export functions work with the visual

Transparency

• All visual functionality is transparent and configurable

• No hidden data processing or background operations

• Open communication about visual capabilities and limitations

• No automatic data collection or background syncing

International Data Transfers

• All processing occurs within your local Power BI environment
