July 2, 2024: Our preprint titled Agile Free-Form Signal Filtering with a Chaotic-Cavity-Backed Non-Local Programmable Metasurface is online. Therein, we experimentally demonstrate an extremely tunable filter, both in terms of functionality and frequency (spanning the X band and lower Ku band), built off an all-metallic programmable metasurface backed by a chaotic cavity. Our device featuring spatially overlapping resonances and reverberation-induced all-to-all non-locality deliberately forgoes the limiting assumptions of conventional filter synthesis. Along the way, we also confirm multiple predictions from recently developed scattering theories, including the first experimental observation of transmissionless exceptional points.

August 1, 2023: Our preprint titled Experimentally realized physical-model-based wave control in metasurface-programmable complex media is online. Therein, we report the first experimental demonstration of wave control in RIS-parametrized "smart" radio environments based on a calibrated compact physical model. Moreover, we discover that our pure-physics model has unique generalization capabilities: it can accurately retrieve all phase information when calibrated with phaseless data, and it can even retrieve information about scattering coefficients not included in the calibration data!

November 16, 2020: We presented our paper titled Toward Dynamically Adapting Wireless Intra-Chip Channels to Traffic Needs with a Programmable Metasurface at the 1st ACM International Workshop on Nanoscale Computing, Communication, and Applications. The paper introduces our ongoing efforts with collaborators in Arizona and Barcelona to bring the concept of programmable propagation environments to the chip scale.
