The PTO supports two after-school activities – skiing and mountain biking – in order to provide access to learn these resource-intensive acitivites to all children in the district.
Volunteer with the Ski Club Wednesdays after school at Ski Hill!
Help buckle some boots, bring some stoke, and supervise the lift lines.
Ski Club happens school days in Jan/Feb 3:15 - 5 PM
The Cascade Ski Club is a collaboration between the School District (CSD), Leavenworth Winter Sports Club (LWSC), and the PTO. Last year the Club helped over 70 kids from Alpine Lakes and Icicle River Middle School connect with snow sports on Ski Hill Wednesdays after school in Jan/Feb. Many of these kids had never been on skis before this opportunity.
The Cascade Ski Club kids receive gear to borrow for the season (skis/snowboard, boots, helmet), a season pass to Ski Hill, and are transported from school to Ski Hill on Wednesdays, January 14-February 25 (excluding mid-winter break). While at Ski Hill, the kids receive help getting acquainted with their gear, skiing/snowboarding basics, snacks, and fun on the slopes with their peers.
The Club is made possible through various grants (e.g. Vail Epic Promise), fundraising (e.g. LWSC Benevolent Nights), volunteers, and in-kind support from Arlberg Sports and Mervin Manufacturing. LWSC provides free season passes (good outside of the club meetings!), CSD provides staff, volunteers and transportation, and the PTO helps organize and prepare the gear and many volunteers that it takes to make this happen.
We prioritize kiddos who would not otherwise have access to these opportunities, either for financial or logistical reasons, and strive to provide a welcoming and fun environment that is easy for them to access. Club participation forms go home with eligible children the first week of the calendar year.

Have any extra (in good working order)...

skis (especially 120-150 cm)?
Consider donating them to the Ski Club! Contact PDPTOINFO@gmail.com
Similar to the After School Ski Club, the PTO will be attempting to offer a Mountain Bike Club in Spring 2026 for Alpine Lakes students. The school district has and maintains a number of mountain bikes which were purchased with a previous grant. Due to the number of bikes and necessarily higher volunteer-to-student ratio, this program will be limited to a small number of students. More information forthcoming as we figure it all out!
