Baozhong at a Glance

  • School District Background: Baozhong is situated on a plain, and is a typical rural farm village thanks to a year-round moderate climate and fertile soil. The farm products produced mainly consist of rice, sweet potatoes, peanuts, vegetables, sugar cane, and corn. Livestock include pigs, chickens, and ducks as a source of supplemental income. With the advent of the Taiwan economic boom, local businesses have also been doing well, such as Famous House Food Industrial Corp., Century Iron & Steel Industrial Co, Sunshine Industries Company, and Shin Hu Cooperation Farm.

  • School District Characteristics: Due to the impact of low fertility rates and the small size of the Baozhong Township, the population of the place is small and as a result the school is considered to be a school in a remote area. Coupled with the major problem of an outflow of population and students choosing to pursue education in other school districts, the class size of Baozhong Junior High has shrunk to only six classes.

  • In face of insufficient classes, teaching positions are often not filled, and there are currently only around 15 members in the faculty.

Parent Composition: Baozhong is an agricultural township, and the parents of students are often than not farmers or part-time workers and as a result have a low social standing. A high percentage of low-income families, single parents, skip-generation families, and foreign spouses leads to challenges in the cooperation between parents, teachers, and students. Thankfully, the students of the school are rustic, lively, kind, and all follow school rules. It can be said that Baozhong Junior High, although small in size, has its own beauty.
