Welcome to 4th grade!
This is your final year before you begin middle school! I can't wait to see how you grow throughout the year. As you prepare to enter into middle school, we have a lot of fun topics this year. In Math, we focus on place value, long division, fractions, decimals, and geometry. We will work on personal narratives, opinion pieces, and research writing in reading and writing. This year, our grammar will focus on sentence structure to help us with our work! In Social Studies, we will learn about concepts in geography, but more specifically, the state of Pennsylvania. We will also dive into the state's rich history. Some of our Science topics include the scientific method, energy and ecosystems, and earth and space! For Religion, we focus on the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, Feast Days, and Holy Days of Obligation.
Class Expectations
You are expected to come to school everyday ready to learn. Also, come with an open mind! Show your best effort and be proud of all your work. Come to class prepared with all materials at the start of each and every school day. You are expected to treat everyone with kindness and respect. This includes your teachers, friends, peers, and the entire Presentation family.
Grading Policy
In each subject, you are graded on the following:
Classwork
Homework
Participation
Projects
Tests
Quizzes
ALL assignments will be posted on the website page daily.
ALL assignments will be graded and posted at most 10 days after they were turned in.
Late work:
Late work will be accepted up to one month after the original due date, but you will lose 1 point for every day that it is late. After one month, it will no longer be accepted
Absentee Policy
Upon returning to school, students MUST bring a handwritten note to the teacher. A doctor's note will be required for 3 days or more. If the student is absent on a test day, they will take the test the day they return.
Students are responsible for making up any missed work or notes. Depending on the duration of the absence, students will have a corresponding amount of time to complete missed assignments. For instance, if a student is absent for 2 days, they will have 2 days to make up the work. All missed work will be readily available on google classroom or in the absentee bin, ensuring that students have the necessary support to catch up.
