Mr. Travis has played soccer since he was 6 years old. He played for the PB Mules as a forward and earned 1st team All-Confrence, All District during 11th and 12th grade. He also played for Lindenwood University and Central Methodist University as an offensive midfielder.
Travis and Amanda Gowen founded PBCSC with the idea for a ministry, but with no clue how to start. Since the whole family played soccer, that was the most logical beginning. They brought the idea to their senior pastor (Byron Beck), and within a few weeks, PBCSC was official. Travis looks forward to camp because it is a reminder of the blessings of friendship and support, as well as a chance to closely evaluate himself as a Christian. He (and the rest of the team) can't believe it's been more than a decade!
Outside of camp, Travis enjoys playing sports, spending time with his family, watching his kids play various sports, travelling and photography.
Ms. Amanda played soccer for 13 years and was a Poplar Bluff Mules Soccer player. She has contributed to the game at every level: playing, coaching, reffing, watching and cheering!
She was inspired to create PBCSC by local pastors who issued a challenge to combine a natural passion with ministry. Amanda looks forward to camp because of her love for soccer, but also because it is a renewal of faith every year as we can see God moving at every step.
Outside of camp, Amanda serves at a local domestic violence shelter and enjoys spending time with her family, raising her kids, Ireland and Rowan.
Miss Meagan has been with PBCSC all 10 years and she takes care of the logistics and the details. She has never played soccer, but enjoys cheering for her favorite players!
When Coaches Amanda and Travis Gowen approached her about this idea for a ministry, she jumped in head first! Meagan enjoys everything about camp: the 9 page spreadsheet, the over 100 campers we see, and mostly getting to share the joy that Jesus brings with her hometown!
Outside of camp, Meagan lives in St. Louis, Missouri, and enjoys teaching middle school theatre and spending time with her friends and family.
Ireland is the daughter of founders, Amanda and Travis Gowen. She has played soccer since she was 5 years old. She is currently playing for the Missouri Baptist University Spartans and has previously played for PBHS Lady Mules all four years of high school, including many years of youth soccer.
Since her parents founded this camp, she has been here since year 1. She has participated in camp for 9/10 years and eventually transitioned to coach! She has also reffed for the OSL league for the past 5 years. Her favorite part of camp, aside from watching the amazing young athletes develop their skills, is watching them grow as people. Seeing them pick each other up or try to explain to the younger ones who Jesus is, is a heartwarming sight to see.
Outside of camp, Ireland enjoys playing sports, attending church, working at PBRMC as a CNA, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her family.
Mr. Keaton has been involved with PBCSC for 9 years and his main job at camp is ensuring that all coaches, campers, and office volunteers have what they need to have a successful camp weekend. Keaton enjoys camp because it is an opportunity to remind him just how big our God is.
Keaton came to PBCSC in year 2 when Mrs. Amanda Gowen approached him as a youth volunteer. He has never played soccer, but as a small business owner, Keaton has been involved with the planning of camp and is also a camp sponsor himself.
Outside of camp, Keaton enjoys hunting, golfing, attending church, and spending time at the river.
Coach Amanda Hayes has been with PBCSC for 9 years as a Coach and Coach Advisor. Her favorite part of camp is seeing young athletes growing in skills and developing a love for the game while experiencing worship and devotionals.
Amanda came to PBCSC with over 35 years of experience. She has played all positions, but she loves playing Center Mid; she currently acts as a ref and Assistant Commissioner for OSL. Amanda was one of the first female athletes for the PB Mules when the team was still co-ed and on the first PB Lady Mules soccer team!
Outside of camp, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family on their farm, enjoying the outdoors and her horses!
PBCSC Mission Statement
We strive to build relationships with the students of southeast Missouri through the fundamentals of soccer and salvation through Jesus Christ.

What We Believe
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to Earth, lived a perfect life, was tortured and died on a cross to take the place of humankind in hell. He was resurrected and ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father while preparing the Kingdom of Heaven.
We believe that God created the universe and mankind in His image and commanded us to honor him by upholding the 10 commandments. By fulfilling Old Testament prophecies given directly from God to a multitude of prophets, Jesus proved himself to be the foretold Messiah.
We believe that it is only through salvation from Jesus that we can enter into Heaven when we pass on from this life and into eternity; there is no good deed we can do, no amount of money or materials that we can possess, or lives we can touch to be enough to get us to Heaven. Those things and actions are a way for us to honor God, but not enough to save us. What saves us is faith and a relationship.
