Outcomes
This workshop will create an informal and collaborative space for researchers who employ PEDAs to reflect, discuss challenges, and explore future directions together. Through the expressive act of zine-making, participants will share insights and exchange knowledge on past and current PEDAs.
Specifically, we aim to:
bring together researchers from diverse backgrounds who employ PEDAs across disciplines in crises and sensitive contexts;
identify shared challenges and tensions in PEDA research, particularly in ethically and methodologically complex settings;
facilitate problem-solving and strategizing to move PEDAs forward; and
create an interdisciplinary research network around these issues to ensure that conversations extend beyond the workshop.
This workshop will produce multiple tangible outputs, to translate discussion into visible, meaningful action:
Zine Creation & Digital Archive: Participants will create a zine around PEDAs in sensitive contexts. The zine will be digitized and made publicly accessible on the workshop’s website after the workshop. Participants will receive a printed zine after the workshop, with the option to print additional copies for others at the conference who may not have attended.
Exhibition at the Conference: If feasible, the physical zines will be exhibited at the conference, allowing engagement with attendees who were not present at the workshop.
Post-Conference Submission to Interactions: An ACM Interactions magazine submission will be written post-workshop to extend the conversation, invite more researchers into the network, and highlight key insights, facilitating impact beyond the conference.
