Born in Washington and raised between there and California, I grew up spending every free moment tidepooling, birding, or camping with my family. From an early age, I found joy in turning over rocks on the coast and identifying seabirds on long car rides—experiences that shaped a deep commitment to environmental stewardship. Guided by a passion for ocean conservation, sustainable agriculture, and land practices rooted in reciprocity, I pursued a degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Food Studies from the University of Oregon. I bring over five years of experience working with youth ages 5 to 18, a growing repertoire of Pacific Northwest bird knowledge, and field research experience studying endemic species in New Zealand. I am especially passionate about place-based learning and creating opportunities for young people to connect with the natural world in meaningful and embodied ways. Whether splashing in the Pacific Ocean or wading into the Coast Fork of the Willamette River, I feels most at home outdoors, feet in the water, learning alongside my students. I joined the Aves Compartidas team within the Environmental Leadership Program to deepen my work as an environmental educator at the intersection of birds, community, and equitable access to nature.
Aves Compartidas is a place-based, bilingual education program within the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) at the University of Oregon. Through hands-on, community-centered learning, Aves Compartidas connects 3rd–5th grade students in Eugene, Oregon, with students in Guanajuato, Mexico, by exploring the shared migratory birds that travel between the Willamette and Laja River watersheds. Rooted in cross-cultural exchange and environmental stewardship, the program fosters curiosity, connection, and a deeper understanding of the natural world across borders.
