  • PayToUnlock (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) helps users schedule focus sessions and temporarily block access to selected apps. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.


  • Information we use


  • Account information: When you create or sign in to an account, we use your email address and account identifier to authenticate you and keep your account separate from other users.


  • App and schedule information: We store schedules, focus-session settings, onboarding answers, subscription status, and session-related records needed to provide the service.


  • Device and permission information: The app checks whether required Android permissions are enabled, including Accessibility Service, Usage Access, overlay, notifications, exact alarms, and battery-optimization settings. The Accessibility Service is used to identify the foreground app package during an active focus session so the app can display its lockdown overlay. We do not use it to read what you type, capture screen content, or share accessibility data.


  • Payment information: Payments and subscriptions are handled by payment providers such as Stripe, Google Play, and RevenueCat, depending on the feature and platform. We do not store complete card numbers in the app’s database. Payment providers process payment details under their own privacy policies.


  • Diagnostics and support: We may receive technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app, such as error information and service status.


  • How we use information


  • We use information to provide authentication, save and restore schedules, start and manage focus sessions, process subscriptions or session-related payments, prevent misuse, maintain security, and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information.


  • Service providers


  • We use infrastructure and service providers, which may include Firebase for authentication and cloud data, Stripe for payment methods and payments, Google Play for app distribution and subscriptions, and RevenueCat for subscription management. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and under their own policies.


  • Data retention and deletion


  • We retain account and schedule information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data through the developer contact shown on our Google Play listing. Some payment or security records may be retained when required by law or to prevent fraud.


  • Children’s privacy


  • PayToUnlock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.


  • Security


  • We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.


  • Changes to this policy


  • We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
