Permaculture founders Bill Mollison and David Holmgren observed the devastating effects that agriculture and human settlements were having on the ecology of their homeland and they asked the simple question, “How can we meet human needs by patterning human developments after natural systems, rather than destroying natural systems?” This basic question is now being asked by farmers, home owners and schools. The main reason why is because we have forgotten how to work together with nature.
Permaculture is a Ethical Design Science where we observe nature and its patterns then try to follow these natural laws in our design. We attempt to understand & mimic nature the result is Clean Air, Clean Water & Clean Food.
I am Bob Durfee Permaculture Teacher, Designer, Consultant, and Manager of the Payson Utah Valley Permaculture Demonstration Site. I took my permaculture design course from Denise Devynck who took her course directly from Geoff Lawton. She also recommended that I become a teacher of the design course because of my grasp of the material.
