He searched frantically, his heart pounding against his ribs. Just when he thought all hope was lost, he spotted a flash of calico fur – the cat hiding under a pile of debris.
Relief turned to crushing despair. A dog of Israel armed forces killed her . The cat, his tiny guardian angel, lay limp in his arms, her purr replaced by an unsettling silence. Ashraf’s world shattered. He cradled her close, tears blurring the smoke-filled sky.
