PawVault ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of information you share about your pets. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the PawVault mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
PawVault is a pet health management application that allows you to store veterinary records, track medications, vaccines, meals, and care routines for your pets. Because our Service involves health-related information — specifically veterinary and animal health data — we take our privacy obligations seriously.

PawVault stores veterinary and animal health data you enter about your pets. This is distinct from human health data governed by HIPAA; however, we apply equivalent care and security standards.
Important clarifications:
PawVault is a record-keeping tool, not a licensed veterinary service. Nothing in this app constitutes veterinary advice or creates a veterinarian–client–patient relationship
The AI Vet feature provides general informational responses only. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for diagnosis or treatment decisions
You are responsible for the accuracy of the health records you enter
Health records you enter are visible only to you (and any household members you share access with, if that feature is enabled)
We will never sell, license, or share your pet's health records with pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, pet food companies, research organizations, or any third party for commercial purposes without your explicit consent.

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal process (subpoena, court order, or government request), or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of PawVault, our users, or the public.
If PawVault is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice in the app prior to your data becoming subject to a different privacy policy.
We may share information with third parties when you explicitly instruct us to do so — for example, when you use the PDF export feature to share records with your veterinarian.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:
Account and pet profile data: Retained until you delete your account
Health records: Retained until you delete the specific record or your account

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see Section 11).
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses TLS 1.2 or higher
Encryption at rest: Your data is stored in encrypted form on Supabase infrastructure
Access controls: Strict role-based access controls limit which employees or systems can access your data
Authentication: We support Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google, both of which provide secure, token-based authentication
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device's system settings or within the PawVault app settings.
