My work speaks about how much I care about rescue dogs. I have always loved rescue animals. In 2019, my boyfriend adopted a rescue dog from the Roanoke Valley SPCA. Adopting Nola (the rescue dog who my exhibition is based on), was one of the best things to happen to me and my boyfriend’s lives. She has given me so much inspiration for my senior exhibition. The overall intention of my body of work is to create a care kit for new pet owners. Rescue care kits are needed for new adoptive pet parents. Each piece of the care kit is an interictal part of the overall body of work. It has items in it that new pet owners might not have or have gotten rid of. It is almost like a small starter pack. For example, it has a collar, leash, harness, food, toys, treats, shampoo, bowls, and pet cleaner. It also includes a t-shirt for the pet parents. I created this work as an overall statement to ADOPT DON’T SHOP. As a graphic designer, my body of work is full designed on either my laptop or on my iPad. More specifically in either Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Fresco. It took a while to get everything correct and make sure each background was unique. I did my best to try to use the same background with the corresponding illustration on a few pieces and tried to make groups. Each piece has been digitally painted off of a based photo of Nola. I chose to use Nola as the main illustration on each item in the care kit. She is a rescue, so it only made sense.
