Quick start
Add a pet name, species (dog or cat), breed, weight, vet clinic, allergies, medications.
2. Try the example the app seeds an example pet (Bella) on first launch so you can see how everything looks. Remove it any time from the Home banner.
3. Run a night session Monitor tab, check battery and position, tap Start. Leave the iPhone near your pet.
4. Review events open the session from the Home dashboard. Confirm or change types, add notes.
5. Generate a PDF Reports tab, Generate report, share with your vet.
FAQ
Does PawEvidence diagnose my pet?
No. PawEvidence is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything. It is an observation journal that helps you notice patterns and prepare for vet visits.
Does the microphone send audio anywhere?
No. All sound analysis runs on your iPhone a two-classifier ensemble of our custom Core ML model (PetSounds.mlmodel) and Apple's SoundAnalysis framework. No audio leaves the device. Snippet Capture (off by default) saves 6-second clips locally and auto-deletes them after 7 days.
Can I use it without an internet connection?
Yes. PawEvidence works fully offline except for the optional weather and pollen overlay (which uses Open-Meteo).
Does it work on iPad and Mac?
Yes PawEvidence runs on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon Macs via Mac Catalyst or Designed-for-iPad.
How do I delete the example pet (Bella)?
On the Home screen, tap Remove example data in the example banner, or open Pets, tap Bella, and delete from the detail screen.
How do I export or back up my data?
Settings, Data, Export JSON. The file contains your pets, sessions, events, and observations in a portable JSON format.
Can I delete everything?
Settings, Data, Delete all data. This removes all pets, sessions, events, observations, photos, and audio snippets.
Which permissions does the app request?
Microphone (only during a Night Session, for on-device sound analysis). Location (optional, only for weather and pollen overlay). Camera and photos (only when you attach a photo). Denying any permission still leaves the rest of the app usable.
