Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory by Abraham Maslow, which proposes that people are motivated by five basic categories of needs: physiological, security, love, esteem and self-relation: https://www.up-spain.com/blog /maslow-pyramid/. When I began to study child development, I loved this theory, since there is no need to complicate ourselves or our children's lives, if we provide them with a safe, stable environment of peace and love, we are giving them the necessary tools to learn. This method says exactly that human beings have primordial needs and Maslow reflects them in a pyramid, where the base is to meet physiological needs, that is, what our body asks for, for example: drinking water when we are thirsty, sleeping, eating, going to the bathroom, next are the needs for safety and protection: having a house, food, clothing, etc.

The third step is social needs: having family, friends, the fourth is recognition needs such as validation, respect, trust, success and finally the top of the pyramid is the goal of the human being, which is the need for self-realization: when you already have everything you need and now you focus on doing something. A very clear example of this theory is when teachers ask the parents for children to have breakfast before going to school, because if they don't have breakfast, they will be thinking about eating instead of focusing on what the teacher is explaining.

Therefore, this family will be primarily responsible for giving your children all the tools they need to reach self-realization, to the point where they will learn more and be better. “We cannot teach a child to ride a bicycle (other teaching methods) without even having provided them with a bicycle” (Maslow).
