Consulting

My background is in quantitative psychological research (social psychology) and statistics.  I have over 32 years experience conducting research, writing grant proposals, teaching, mentoring students as well as junior (and more advanced) faculty, and serving as an Editor and Associate Editor for top journals in psychology (e.g., Journal of Personality & Social Psychology, Emotion).

I can provide guidance in writing, editing, and conceptualizing dissertations, theses, manuscripts to be submitted to journals, grant proposals, and other academic writing. The way you write and frame a piece depends on where you are submitting it (i.e., your audience).  Grant proposal writing/framing is different from writing manuscripts for journals.  (I have mentored multiple faculty through conceptualization to the submission of grant proposals as part of the Family Research Scholar Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as well as informally, and many of these faculty have successfully secured funding.) I also am available to advise and assist with statistical analyses (e.g., analysis of variance, regression, hierarchical linear modeling), including the analysis of dyadic data.

My goals are to provide extensive feedback, guidance, and support to help you write clearly, concisely, and logically and to write in a way that is appropriate for your target audience (e.g., a particular journal, a grant review panel). As a statistical consultant, I can help you to analyze your data appropriately and understand the results.  (I typically use SPSS as well as HLM software.)

Sometimes writing projects and statistical analyses can be daunting, and as an editor, coach, and statistical analyst, I provide support to help you move forward and succeed.   I help you write successfully as well as appropriately analyze and interpret your data. I am also available for coaching on a range of issues related to career development (e.g., imposter syndrome, managing a lab, balancing career, family and life).

I am available for remote meetings (via internet or phone).  Free initial consultation to determine scope of project and quote (Monaco at umass.edu).
