His scholarly journey culminated in 1974 when he received a Juris Doctor degree with honors, cum laude, from De Paul University's College of Law.

He commenced his career as an Arthur Andersen & Co. staff member, gradually becoming a partner in 1984. From 1974 to 1994, his tenure saw him hold diverse positions, including membership in the Mergers, Acquisitions & Reorganizations Tax Specialty Team. He spearheaded the Central Region Financial Markets Team, overseeing tax and audit functions related to various financial instruments. He also contributed to the Chicago Office "On Call" Team and was vital to the Financial Valuation Services Specialty Team during his tenure at Arthur Andersen & Co.
In 1994, Paul Daugerdas's expertise found a new home at the Law Offices of Altheimer & Gray, where he became a partner and Head of the Tax Department. Subsequently, from 1999 to 2002, he played a pivotal role as a Shareholder/Partner at the Law Offices of Jenkens & Gilchrist, where he managed the Chicago office and co-directed the Tax Practice.
