Gifts from the Garden
Making sachets from our Patwin gardens
Making sachets from our Patwin gardens
Goals: To learn that our gardens are a good source of gifts
Supplies: Clippers, fabric sachets or sock, clippings (i.e. lavender, rosemary, bay) rubber band and ribbon.
How to proceed:
First walk around your garden or neighborhood and cut lavender, rosemary or bay.
Only cut as much as your need.
Think about about whether you want one or two herbs in your sachet.
Have them choose 1 or 2 plants to put into the sachet.
Use a sachet or old sock and ribbon (1 sachet and 1 ribbon per child).
Pull the leaves off the rosemary, tear or break up the leaves of the lavender and bay.
Place the broken up leaves into the sachet.
Use a rubber band to close and secure the sachet.
Tie a bow at the top. You may need an adult to tie the bow.
Sachets can be placed in clothes drawers, linen closets, car, …, etc to make an area smell good.
