Under the Aegis of: UBA – Unnat Bharat Abhiyan
As part of its outreach under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), S.S.D. College, Barnala organized a seminar titled “Parent’s Role in Making a Child’s Career” on 18th June 2025 at Patti Sekhwan village. The session was designed to sensitize parents to their vital influence in shaping their children’s educational and professional journeys.
The seminar was led by Dr. Rakesh Jindal, Principal of the college, who served as the keynote speaker. In his address, Dr. Jindal emphasized that parents play a foundational role not only in providing academic support but also in nurturing their children’s aspirations through emotional encouragement and open dialogue. He cautioned against imposing rigid expectations and instead encouraged parents to focus on discovering and supporting their child’s natural talents and interests.
The event was marked by active participation from local families, who engaged in meaningful conversations around career planning, challenges in rural education, and the importance of early guidance. The interactive format allowed parents to ask questions and reflect on their parenting styles and expectations.

Plantation Drive

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, S.S.D. College, Barnala organized a Plantation Drive in Patti Sekhwan village on 16th April 2025. The drive was coordinated by Prof. Parwinder kaur and saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and local villagers.
The initiative aimed to promote ecological awareness and contribute to greener surroundings in the rural community. A variety of saplings, including neem, peepal, and fruit-bearing trees, were planted in and around the village school, community spaces, and roadside areas. Participants were also educated about the long-term environmental benefits of tree plantation, such as improved air quality, soil conservation, and biodiversity support.
The drive fostered a strong sense of environmental responsibility among villagers, especially the youth, and served as a step toward creating a healthier and more sustainable ecosystem. Local residents appreciated the effort and pledged to care for the planted saplings to ensure their growth and survival.

On 25th March 2025, S.S.D. College, Barnala organized a Career Counselling Session at Patti Sekhwan village under the banner of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The session was conducted by Prof. Gurkeerat Kaur, with the objective of guiding rural students in exploring diverse academic and professional opportunities.
The session covered various career paths, including options in higher education, vocational training, competitive exams, and entrepreneurship. Prof. Gurkeerat emphasized the importance of self-awareness, goal setting, and making informed decisions based on individual interests and strengths. She also provided practical information about scholarships, government schemes, and college admission procedures.
The session was interactive and well-received by students and parents alike. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the initiative and a stronger sense of direction regarding their future aspirations. The program contributed meaningfully to empowering the village youth and encouraging a more career-conscious mindset within the community.
