The Patriot Pitch competition started in Spring 2014 under the name of Pitch IT Business Idea Competition. Initial focus of the competition was for business ideas related to IT and Engineering. In 2019 the competition was extended for the entire Mason audience and become Patriot Pitch.
The competition was initially organized by Mihai Boicu and Massimiliano Albanese, co-directors of the Laboratory for IT Entrepreneurship (LITE), in collaboration with other units in George Mason University, including Information Sciences and Technology Department, Volgenau School of Engineering and Mason's Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Starting in Fall 2019, the competition is co-organized by Karen Livingston, Associate Director for Entrepreneurship Programs, Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Mihai Boicu, Associate Professor in the Information Sciences and Technology Department, and co-director of the Laboratory for IT Entrepreneurship.
In Spring 2022, the competition is restarted by Gisele Stolz, Director, Entrepreneurship Programs & MEC Business Incubators, Office of Innovation and Economic Development, and Mihai Boicu, Associate Professor in the Information Sciences and Technology Department.
