In this course, students learn the foundations of macroeconomics as the branch of economics concerned with how decision-making, in an environment of scarcity, maps onto the aggregate economy. Students examine theories and evidence related to the following core set of topics: national income determination, money, monetary and fiscal policy, macroeconomic conditions, international trade and the balance of payments, and economic growth and development.
Undergraduate Level:
Personal Finance (ECO 3041)
Fall 2021 and Spring 2022
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the specific content knowledge of personal finance and to give them opportunities to start using that knowledge to create good habits, make better financial choices, and live a more fulfilling life. The focus is on key life choices: career options, earning, spending, saving, investing, managing credit and risk, and planning for retirement. Exercises included in the course address practical issues such as the link between occupation and earnings, budgeting, purchasing a home and car, and selecting investments, insurance coverages, and retirement plans.
