I am a PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh. My dissertation research is advised by Anil Gupta.

I work on logic and language, with related interests in epistemology. I am particularly interested in metasemantic questions and in how linguistic understanding bears on them. I have a related interest in the use of implicit definition in logic and mathematics, especially in the context of higher-order languages. I also have a serious side-interest in external world skepticism which I think (and, in my dissertation, argue) bears on the first of the above interests.

Before coming to Pittsburgh, I completed a BA in Philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis.

Outside of philosophy, I enjoy cooking, hiking, climbing, and watching movies. My favorites include: Yi Yi, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Shop around the Corner, Harakiri, and Mirror.

Here is my CV. Send me an email at ipc10 [at] pitt [dot] edu.
