Short Description

Under Oath is structured as a legal proceeding that never closes. The court is always in session. Good moments are not received but submitted, intercepted before they can settle, held for review until they destabilize under their own scrutiny.

The essay traces the architecture of a particular kind of self-adjudication: the standing verdict that precedes the evidence, the outcome rehearsed before the case is heard, the hope called forward and cross-examined until it cannot hold its own weight.

Scrutiny replaces acceptance. The roles of judge, witness, and accused remain the same.
