Dear Pathways families & friends,
What a fall it has been so far - we have so much news to highlight!
In particular, on October 22, we were thrilled to present to the Silver Lake Regional District School Committee (read all about it by clicking on the article to the left). We were invited to showcase the informational video produced by our students on the Pathways Program and were given the opportunity to speak to the importance of our programming and the fantastic work our students are doing.
In close second, we are excited to have been able to welcome a new student to our program from out of district. Sam has been a great addition to our mix and we are pleased that the quality of our program has not gone unnoticed by other districts!
Last but not least, we are so happy to have been able to launch our Pathways Program website. In this age of technology it is important we be able to communicate in a way that allows new and current families, business partners and stakeholders to easily access information on our program goals, our guiding principles and our student's achievements in a timely and comprehensive manner. We hope you will take some time to check it out - you will likely see some familiar faces and some photos that will make you smile!
In closing, I want to acknowledge the ongoing gratitude Carol, Susanne, Judy and I feel every day as we greet the fantastic students we get to work with and go out to the jobsites that have been so good to our students and supportive to the program. We truly feel #blessed!
Happy holiday season to all!

The Pathways program has had the wonderful fortune of being able to add a "satellite" location in downtown Plymouth for this school year at Second Nature Social Skills. With a three-level office, Second Nature's space has given us lots of room to spread out and be appropriately distanced while still being together. The students love being together and really enjoy being able to get out and take mask breaks on the harbor. Being in downtown Plymouth also allows us to practice our community navigation and money management skills in real time!
With the success of our students at the Devine Feed & Pet job site, we have been able to expand to their second store - Hanson Grain & Feed two days a week.
Our crew at Hanson Grain includes Jack, Becky, Connor and Robbie. Connor and Robbie can be found filling bags with hay and sweeping the warehouse area. Jack and Becky can be found filling, weighing, and stocking bags of grain.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful to our Pathways team. We're there on Mondays and Thursdays.
Carrie Mathias; our Silver Lake Librarian is a technological wizard. She's training Robbie and Samantha on Google Sites (a website building tool), creating a virtual relaxation room and how to use WeVideo. Robbie has created a virtual site for his children books and developed games to go with it.
Thank you Carrie! We are excited to use the new tools that you've taught us.
I have been participating in the MAICEI Program at Massassoit Community College since September. I am taking a Computer class that covers Windows, Word and Excel. Windows has been fun to learn (and I really liked it because I get to choose different screensavers). Beginning Word was really tricky because of all the formatting options, but I got a hang of it. Now I am learning Excel. It's similar to Google Sheets, but it's a little different.
With experience, I am feeling less anxious than the beginning. The MAICEI program is a program for young adults with different disabilities. We audit classes (like my computer class) and then attend weekly group classes on things like social skills, stress management and the difference between a good attitude and bad attitudes.
Fresh air is of abundance at Soule and Colchester Farms. This month the baby chicks were born at Colchester, and boy do they grow quickly!
At Soule Farm, you can find the Pathways crew cleaning up from the latest storm. We especially enjoy our visits with the bunnies.
We're wrapping up our work at Colchester farm as the temperature cools.
Samantha began with the Pathways Program on October 28th. Sam moved here in August from Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
Sam is a resident of Duxbury and has a little sister. She enjoys animated movies, music and reading fanfictions. She went to school in Wisconsin called Bethesda. She'll be working closely with Becky, Robbie and Adam.
Pathways now has a team of 11 young adults! Welcome, Sam!
One of my favorite activities that we’ve done at Pathways was when we went to the Wrentham Outlet. It was a fun and learning experience for me and everyone else. We went to many stores that we wanted to go to. Sadly we didn’t have much time there because it opened at 11:00 and we had to leave around 1:00. Some of the people brought lunch from home and few people got Mcdonalds.
We also went to a farm that is named The Big Apple in Wrentham. It had pumpkins, and baked goods. We were only at the farm for a short bit because the Wrentham outlet opened at 11:00 and so we had tight time spam. It was very cold in some parts but if you went and sat in the sun you were warm. Everyone in the program except for a couple of people in the program weren’t with us. We sat in a circle and just talked and game planned out on what store we were going to go to once we got the location.

Covid came to our country. It came to our state. It came to our town. It showed up at our houses. It took our toilet paper, disinfectant spray and wipes. It locked us up, it kept us from our loved ones, schools and stores. It made us all wear masks and stay six feet apart. But we all found ways to stay connected. Covid did not like that at all! We started to weaken Covid, the more we stayed positive. On Christmas day, Covid showed up to try and steal our holiday. Pathways was NOT having that! Pathway peeps banded together and gave that nasty Covid a vaccine shot. Slowly but surely the people of the USA became happier and healthier. Pathways saved Christmas 2020 by spreading positivity and sticking together!
