During a successful careet in Real Estate in the Hamptons, I decided that I wanted to learn to paint the beautiful world that I saw around me everyday - so I built a studio over my 3 car garage. Some said I had it backwards, that I should see if I really wanted to do this but I knew that I would not be able to paint without a dedicated space - and it worked for me!
In 2011, one of my early paintings “Wind Over Cooks Lane” won a 2nd place medal at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club's yearly show. My painting hung in the exhibit at the National Arts Gallery in Gramercy Park, New York City, New York. It was a gratifying and thrilling reminder to take a chance in life and to trust one's instincts. This honor inspired me to continue to paint when I could find the time. It is an ongoing process........
Have always been drawn to dramatic landscapes...
Have always loved the light at the end of the day...
Have always had a sense of wonder and awe....
My oil paintings are my views of the beauty and light of the eastern end of Long Island, where I live, and the beauty I enclounter elsewhere. Although I studied art in college to become a teacher, I then went on to several different careers before turning to landscape painting as a means of interpreting the awe inspiring nature around me.
Looking forward to the next painting, the next intake of breath at the glimpse of a stunning view, the better way to express it....
