Past Voices helps visitors understand ancient scripts. This prototype version is designed to work primarily on-device and to avoid collecting personal data.
We do not collect, store, or share personal data. We do not use accounts, analytics SDKs, advertising IDs, or in‑app purchases.
Camera — required to capture images of artifacts/labels for on‑device OCR and translation.
Photos (optional) — lets you import an existing photo for on‑device processing.
Microphone & Location — not used.
Processing (OCR/translation) occurs on your device whenever possible. If you disable Offline Mode, the app may check for model updates; images are not retained on our servers. We do not retain user content.
Past Voices is suitable for families and students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
When the app connects to the internet (e.g., to check for model updates), data in transit uses HTTPS.
Use Offline Mode to keep all processing on your device.
Manage Camera/Photos permissions in iOS Settings > Privacy.
We may update this policy as features evolve. The latest version will always be available at this URL.
