The Terms of Use (Terms) of OpenAI (the developer of ChatGPT) for the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and UK (updated as at 15 February 2024) state as follows: “Your Content. You are responsible for Content, including ensuring that it does not violate any applicable law or these Terms. As between you and OpenAI, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you (a) retain your ownership rights in Input and (b) own the Output. We hereby assign to you all our right, title, and interest, if any, in and to Output.”

This collection was created with the assistance of DALL-E and manually edited. As per OpenAI's clear and unequivocal Terms of Use, all rights to the content are assigned to me, the user. Therefore, I have the right to transfer all usage rights of the artwork to the new owner of the NFT. However, I retain the right to use the artwork for my own purposes, including promoting the collection. 

In short: Yes, it is legal to transfer the rights to the art to the NFT owner. However, it’s a good idea to get legal advice to ensure the process follows the laws in your country.
