How can Human-AI Interaction (HAI) enhance the analysis, discovery, and storytelling of digital cultural heritage at scale? The rapid advancement of AI offers powerful tools for information science, but scholars and GLAM practitioners (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums) must navigate complex challenges regarding data quality, ethical application, and meaningful public engagement.
We invite researchers from HCI, AI, the humanities, and cultural heritage sectors to explore innovative HAI methodologies grounded in information science. A primary goal for this year's full-day workshop is to collaboratively develop a whitepaper that lays out a research agenda for the field.
We welcome submissions on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
The role of human-AI interaction in creating new crowdsourcing opportunities.
The opportunities and challenges posed by foundation models and LLMs in relation to “collections as data”.
The potential of the Metaverse to connect people with GLAMs, education, and cultural preservation.
The potential for human-AI interaction to increase the accessibility of GLAM collections for people with disabilities.
Ethical considerations, including sustainability and the potential harms of perpetuating biases in existing data.
Given the interdisciplinary nature of this workshop, we welcome submissions in a variety of formats that demonstrate your interest or experience at the intersection of HAI and cultural heritage.
Presentation: All accepted submissions will be presented as a short lightning talk (1–3 minutes) during the morning session.
Acceptable submission formats include:
A 1-2 page position paper or extended abstract concerning current or future work.
A previously published paper relevant to the workshop's themes.
A link to a relevant digital project, demonstration, or online portfolio.
