Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 5 April 2026
Overview
UK Driving Theory Practice ("the App") helps users practise UK driving theory questions, including road signs and Highway Code material. We take privacy seriously and keep data collection to a minimum. This policy outlines what information we handle, how it is used, and your choices.
Data We Collect
a. Locally Stored Progress
Quiz results, scores, answered questions, study goals, reminder settings, and mode preferences are stored only on your device using local storage (shared_preferences).
This data never leaves your device unless you manually back it up or share it.
b. Permissions
Notifications (Android POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to send optional study reminders. The App still works if you deny this permission.
Internet: Used to load advertisements through Google AdMob. No personal data is uploaded.
The App does not request sensitive permissions like camera, location, contacts, or microphone.
c. Advertising (Google AdMob)
We use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display non-personalised banner and interstitial advertisements. This SDK may collect:
Anonymous device information for ad serving
Advertising identifiers (for frequency capping)
Crash and performance data
No personally identifiable information is collected by the ads SDK. Ads are non-personalised.
d. Road Sign & Highway Code Material
Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence (OGL) v3.0. This information is not personal data.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect: names, emails, phone numbers, payment data, location, contacts, messages, photos, biometrics, health data, or any personally identifiable information.
How Your Information Is Used
Locally stored data is used only to:
Show your progress and statistics
Send study reminders (if enabled)
Save your language and mode preferences
Data Sharing & Disclosure
Since all data stays on your device, we do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your personal information. Google AdMob may process anonymous technical data for serving advertisements.
Children's Privacy
The App may be used by learners of any age. It collects no personal information. If a minor uses the App, no identifiable data is collected or transmitted.
Security
Because your data remains on your device, its security depends on your device's OS and physical security. Keep your device and apps updated for best protection.
Your Choices & Controls
Notifications: Enable or disable anytime within the App or device settings.
Local Data: To delete all saved progress and settings, uninstall the App.
Ads: You can remove ads through a future "Remove Ads" purchase option (if implemented).
Third-Party Services
Google AdMob (Google LLC): Used to serve non-personalised advertisements. See Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
International Use
The App is designed for UK theory test practice. As all personal data stays on your device, international transfers of personal data are not applicable.
Open Government Licence Attribution
"Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0." Source materials: UK Highway Code and UK Department for Transport standard road signs.
Not Official DVSA Material
This App is for practice only and is not affiliated with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Always refer to official DVSA materials when preparing for your exam.
