I designed this app to be lightweight, secure, and privacy-friendly. Jordan Zeleny, Developer
Your photos are never stored or collected by me.
There are zero ads or ad trackers.
Your data is never sold or monetized.
There are no unnecessary app permissions.
Data Collection:
The app collects a small amount of anonymized data to support purchases and keep the app stable. None of it is linked to your identity, used for tracking, sold, or used for advertising.
In-App Purchases: Anonymous purchase history, used to unlock features you've paid for, restore purchases, and measure sales.
Crash and Performance Data: If the app crashes or misbehaves, an anonymous crash report (device model, OS version, and the app's state at the time) is collected via Google Firebase so I can find and fix bugs.
Usage Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the app is used, such as which features are opened and paywall interactions, via Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and Superwall, used only to improve the app.
Device ID and IP Address: An anonymous, app-specific device identifier (never your name or Apple Account) is used by the purchase and analytics services above to restore purchases and count usage; like any online service, they also receive your IP address when the app connects. Not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.
Optional Data Collection:
The data below is processed only if you choose to use the optional AI features (the AI compliance check, automatic background removal, and the support chat), and only after you allow it in the in-app "Data Sharing Permission" prompt. It is used solely to produce your result, is not linked to your identity, is not used for tracking, and is not used to train any AI model. The app does not require these features: every core feature, including taking, cropping, checking, background removal, and printing your photo, works fully on your device without them.
Customer Support: Messages you type or paste into the in-app support chat are securely routed through AIProxy to OpenAI, only to generate a reply. They are not stored by me, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking. Please do not type anything into the chat that you would not want transmitted for processing.
Device ID and IP Address: Additionally used by AIProxy to enforce per-device usage limits when you use the AI features.
Photos: The passport photo you capture or upload contains your face, so here is exactly what happens to it:
Face Data (On-Device): To position, crop, and check your photo, the app uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect face landmarks (such as eye and chin positions) directly on your device. These measurements are processed in memory, are never saved, never leave your device, and are never accessible to me or anyone else. No facial recognition is performed and no biometric template is ever created.
AI Compliance Check (OpenAI): With your permission, your photo is transmitted securely through AIProxy to OpenAI to check it against passport photo requirements (lighting, background, expression, eyes, glasses, head coverings). OpenAI retains API content for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and then deletes it. I never receive, store, or retain the photo.
Background Removal (Replicate): With your permission, your photo is transmitted securely through AIProxy to Replicate, which removes the background and returns the cutout. Replicate retains inputs and outputs only transiently to process the request. I never receive, store, or retain the photo.
Saved Photos and iCloud: Photos you save to Favorites, and your app settings, are stored on your device and in your personal, private iCloud account so they can sync between your devices. This private database is controlled by your Apple Account; I have no access to it. Delete individual photos any time, or use "Reset App" in Settings to remove everything from your device and your iCloud.
If You Decline Permission: The entire app continues to work. Your photo is processed exclusively on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks, and it never leaves your device.
Data Sharing:
Anonymous data is shared with the following trusted third-party services to provide and improve app functionality. None of the data is linked to your identity or used for tracking purposes. You can review their privacy policies for more details.
Google Firebase: Processes anonymous crash reports, performance data, and usage statistics to help me fix bugs and improve the app. Configured without any advertising identifier. Firebase Privacy
RevenueCat: Processes anonymous purchase history to manage subscriptions and restore purchases. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
Superwall: Processes anonymous purchase history to display and manage paywalls. Superwall Privacy Policy
AIProxy: Processes anonymized Device ID and IP Address to securely route AI requests, enforce usage limits, and collect anonymous analytics. AIProxy Privacy Policy
OpenAI: Processes the content you submit to the AI features (such as text prompts and images) to generate results. OpenAI Privacy Policy
Replicate: Processes the photo you submit to remove its background and return the cutout. Replicate Privacy Policy
Data Retention and Deletion:
I run no servers and retain none of your content. Photos and chat text sent to the AI services are retained only transiently by those providers (OpenAI: up to 30 days for abuse monitoring; Replicate: only while processing). Anonymous purchase, crash, and usage records are retained by the services above per their policies. Everything stored on your device and in your private iCloud is yours: delete it any time with "Reset App" in Settings.
