Jewellery

The Old Jewellery Appeal from the Alzheimer's Society will accept odd jewellery (like single cufflinks or earrings) as well as jewellery in saleable condition. You can request a free jiffy bag by filling in an online form, then send your jewellery to the Freepost address.

We contacted the Alzheimer's Society (in May 2014) to check that they will not use the jewellery appeal as an opportunity to harvest your contact details for fundraising purposes. They responded:

"If you would like to receive an envelope and would rather not receive any future information about our fundraising, campaign or services, you’ll just need to make sure you tick one of the boxes [in question 12 of the webform]. Alternatively [...] use any envelope of your choice and just add the following Freepost address to it, it will still be delivered to the Society at no cost to yourself."

In other words: yes, we will use your donation as an opportunity to harvest your contact details for future fundraising unless you specifically remember to tick the box asking us not to or send your donation in without any contact details so you'll never know whether or not it arrived.

In January 2018 we applied for an Old Jewellery Appeal jiffy bag and will report back.
