Pass It On wiki

Don't bin it - pass it on!

Sometimes we throw things away, not because they're no longer useful, but because they're no longer useful to us. This wiki is for sharing details of organisations who will take and use the things we no longer need and put them to use again.

How you can help

Do you know of an organisation that will take items that we might otherwise throw away? Please email us the details at griffinkate@gmail.com or tweet @pass_it_on_wiki.

What kind of thing do you mean?

We're most interested in the things that are slightly tricky to dispose of. Most charity shops will take things like clothes, books and bric-a-brac, but what about broken jewellery, old laptops or used Christmas trees? We currently have 11 categories - but that's just the start. ..

I've heard of a charity that takes...

Many charities have an undeserved reputation for taking item X or thing Y when in fact they do nothing of the sort. That's why we're most interested in hearing from people with personal (ideally recent) experience of successfully donating an item to a specific organisation.

Can't pass it on?

There might not be an organisation near you who takes the specific thing you want to get rid of, but it's worth listing it on Freegle or Freecycle to see if a person wants it.
