Privacy Policy β Car Locator
Last updated: June 23, 2026
Car Locator respects your privacy. This privacy policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
1. Data collected
π Location
The app accesses your GPS location in the following cases:
- When your phone disconnects from your car's Bluetooth, to automatically save your parking location.
- When you manually use the "Park here" feature.
- During a trip, if you enable the live speed display: the app reads your location continuously, solely to calculate and show your speed in the trip notification. This speed is neither stored nor transmitted. This option is disabled by default.
Your parking location is stored only on your device. It is not sent to any server operated by the app.
π‘ Bluetooth
The app accesses your Bluetooth devices to automatically detect connections and disconnections with your vehicle.
πΊοΈ Google services (maps and location)
To display the map and obtain your position, the app uses Google Maps and Google's location services (Google Play Services). As a result, certain requests (map display, obtaining your position) are processed by Google, in accordance with Google's privacy policy. The app itself does not store or sell your data.
2. Use of data
Data is used only to:
- Automatically save your car's location at the end of your trip.
- Show your live speed in the notification, if you enable this option.
- Guide you back to your car by offering a route via Google Maps or another navigation app of your choice.
- Notify you when your car connects or disconnects.
3. Data storage and sharing
All data saved by the app (your car's locations) is stored locally on your Android device.
The app does not share, sell, or transmit your data to third parties for commercial purposes. The only communications with third parties involve Google Maps and Google's location services, required to display maps and obtain your position.
4. Required permissions
The app may ask for permission to:
- Access your location, including in the background (to save your parking even when the app is not open).
- Access your Bluetooth devices (to detect your vehicle).
- Send you notifications.
These permissions are necessary for the app to work properly. You can deny or revoke them at any time in your phone's settings; some features will then be limited.
5. Security
Your parking locations remain stored locally on your device and are not hosted on our servers. The only network communications come from displaying Google maps and Google's location services (see section 1).
6. Your rights
Since your data is stored on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing the saved vehicles in the app or by uninstalling it.
